Breakfast/lunch/dinners made at home? Or lunch out? It's hard to say, I'm in northeast.... Just a shot in the dark guess would be $75/week on groceries assuming 3 meals?? Does he drink, beer/wine too. Tough to say! Sorry, that really want much help, more like a ramble....

My husband travels for work a lot and gets per diems for meals. The cheapest cities are $46 a day. It definitely isn't always easy to eat on the cheap when you are away from home and all your resources while working long hours.

@BabyPenguinXO: It depends on the project. Sometimes they put them in corporate apartments (so a full kitchen) but they still get like $36 a day to cover their 3 meals (they get at least $46 if they are in hotels).

I'd say $60-$75 at the most. I've eaten for myself on $30 a week, but that was a lot of cereal

@BabyPenguinXO: my guy is 6'4 150lbs and can eat like a horse. he can't cook to save his life though and maybe things are just pricy here but 100$ would just cover it.

I'd probably spend $100. It's more expensive cooking for one and he probably doesn't have a stocked pantry to pull from.
My DH isn't good at grocery shopping or meal planning. He'll want a strip steak or whatever and will buy it at whatever price it's listed. I only buy steaks if they're a good price, same for most of our weekly shop. I once sent dh to get toilet paper and instead of buying the brand on sale, he bought the better brand at $25 a pack. I would never spend $25 on toilet paper because its always on sale but he doesn't get that.
Maybe your dh is the same.

We spend about $150 a week on groceries and that covers all meals for our LO, breakfast everyday for DH, 3-4 lunches for both of us and 5-6 dinners for both. I rely a fair amount on convenience items like pre cut fruits and veggies because after a long day at work and commuting, I'm too tired to do a lot of prep work to get dinner on the table and will often skip veggies if they aren't easy to add. I imagine your fiancé would want to use some convenience items after working a 10hr shift.

I think $100 would be reasonable for someone who ate at home most meals and ate a large meal.

There are a lot of "hidden" costs to cooking, unless you're really diligent about all of your tracking on the ingredients.

One idea to cut costs is not to shop at the regular grocery store, try to search out an ethnic market, they're usually less expensive, at least in my area.

Another idea would be to do a large shop and prep in the once a month cooking style.

@BabyPenguinXO: A quick, speedy breakfast is sauteeing veggies in the beginning of the week, and then in the morning, throwing a scrambled egg in a pan with those veggies, flipping it into a soft tortilla, rolling it up and out the door with a breakfast burrito. One pan with a spatula for clean up later!
