When I was growing up, my parents had the news on while we ate dinner. They always had a TV in the dining room or kitchen! My parents always watched Entertainment Tonight too... hearing the theme now makes me think of dinner time, haha.

My family always ate dinner around the table. The TV was always off and we weren't allowed to eat in the living room. (at least when we were small) As we got older sometimes my parents would allow us to eat in front of the TV, but it was rare.

Not when we were young and sat at the table every nigth for dinner. As we got older and everyone started making their own dinners (mom worked shifts, dad worked crazy hours, sister and I were in all sorts of extracurriculars) we would have the TV in the background.

Rarely. It was usually "family time" and we'd talk about our days. If we were sick or if Dad was working late we'd sometimes watch TV, but it wasn't often.
