When I was preggo, my hair was the most beautiful hair...Shiny, soft, perfect. I didn't lose a single strand - not in the shower, not when brushing. NOW, 12 weeks post partum, in the shower and when I brush it, or when I pull my hair elastic off, a few strands fall. Nothing crazy but I'm sure this is the beginning of something.

I understand it's pretty common ... a big shed post-partum. So you're basically catching up by losing all the hair you hung on to during pregnancy.
I have to say though, I am 21 weeks and am still losing as much hair as ever! I already had pretty thick hair, but I was looking forward to the awesome pregnancy hair that you always hear about...

I have really thick hair, when I tie it in a pony tail; it literally look's like a horse's tail. LOL. My mom told me that she had the same hair and that after both pregancies, she lost a lot of it. She has pretty thin hair hair now. I'm hoping that my ample supply of hair will carry me through the hair loss.

I too, had/have the best hair of my life when pregnant, and my post-partum hair loss started at about 2 months PP. My hair was falling out in CHUNKS and every time I took a shower the drain looked like a small rodent died on it. I lost so much hair that when the lost hair began to grow back in, both my mom and my hair stylist asked why I tried to cut my own bangs (and I still have those "accidental" bangs).

I'm not sure exactly when the post-partum hair loss would have stopped naturally, because I became pregnant just 3 months after giving birth...so I guess we'll see this time around!

i had great pregnancy hair too! then of course it fell out in chunks. i think my hair stopped falling out around 10 months after i weaned!

@Chopsuey119: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I worry about my LO eating hair and my not realizing it. I ALWAYS catch tiny strands of hair sticking to her lips and I frantically wonder, "What if she ate it?!?"
