I see a lot of pictures of LOs sitting next to a cake in their diaper/tutu w/ birthday hats on their heads.
Is this something you'd do?

I'm assuming my daughter's pics will be like that bc I want to save her birthday onsie so I don't necessarily want cake all over it

We haven't planned what we'll do when she eats her cake. I guess it depends what she wears. If it's something I'm ok with getting ruined, I'll keep it on her. If not, I'll either just have her in a diaper or change her into a cheap onesie.

@Laneybugsmommy: LO didn't smash her smash cake. She poked at it, grabbed chunks and tossed it on the floor.
I just put a tshirt over her birthday dress and she was good about not getting cake all over -

I feel weird taking half naked pics of my LO (for others to see). Probably wouldn't feel this way if I had a DS.

We got portraits of RJ taken right around 11 months to display for his birthday. We had him in a han bok, then a formal little outfit with a sweater vest and bow tie... and he was super duper hot (it was BOILING in the photographer's studio) so we stripped him down to his diaper to let him cool off and he was SO happy that the photographer got a few shots of him in just the diaper. They turned out to be the best shots of the day! So even though I don't really like semi-nude baby portraits, we have a set on display because they came out soooo cute.

@Andrea: grandparents are fine! We send my parents and sister 1/2 naked baby pics all the time.

@chopsuey119: uh yah-- that's the cutest part, he is SO chubby and his little baby man-boobs are all hanging out... along with him arm rolls (5 on each arm! count em, 5!) and big belly! Haha.

Yeah I would, pp makes a good point, I wouldn't think twice about it but I have a DS. If I had a DD maybe i'd be more hesitant??

@mrs. wagon: oh my goodness! That is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen! Am also jealous of how much hair RJ has. My LO has minimal hair at 11 mo and it's blonde so it looks like there is even less hair!
I am ambivalent about the just in a nappy photos. Not really for or against - as long as the LO is still a baby!

We are planning on doing some with a smash cake for LO's birthday where he's wearing a pair of "boxer" shorts and a little tie. Part because I think it's cute and part because I don't want cake getting all over a ton of clothes.

It depends on the pictures. Sometimes i'm bothered by them but sometimes i love them!
We are getting pics with DS in a diaper and matching shirt that matches the theme of his birthday party. I also plan on him wearing the shirt again for his small party. His cake for the photos will only have white icing and his cake at his party will have icing colored by broccoli so I'm not worried about stains

I'm pretty sure my mom has naked pictures of me with my first birthday cake.
