I was going to buy something cute for Baby 2 to wear home from the hospital and some new AA blankets but....
LO has tons of newborn outfits in perfect condition and we don't use her AA blankets anymore!
I mentioned this to my friend and she laughed and told me Baby 2 is getting the shaft already! 
Should I use hand me downs or buy one new outfit?

Use hand-me downs if you have them. DS has several early pictures in pink blankets because our swaddle blankets were bought specifically for DD.

I might get a new coming home outfit because I'm sentimental like that, but not blankets. Those are expensive!

Hand me downs. They grow so fast the first few weeks. Buy baby cute stuff when she gets older!

I would use hand me downs, because I'm cheap like that.
Second kids get other benefits... they usually get to do things sooner than their older siblings did, because the parents are more worn out/care less?

heehee! Since we were team green with the first, I felt the same way as you. I agree with others-- one cute outfit that is special for this kid, then hand me downs all the way!!

I went mostly with hand me downs, but felt like #2 deserved a few things of his own - a coming home outfit, one new special blanket & lovie, one heirloom toy (that i could pass on to him when he had kids)... And I got myself a new diaper bag...

I guess I don't see how wearing hand-me downs is getting the shaft, as long as they are clean and in good condition ... It's not like you would throw your baby in a stained dirty sack to bring them home.

I would get a new outfit to come home from the hospital in, but otherwise hand me downs are perfectly fine.

This is my first and the going-home outfit I've packed is a hand-me-down from a friend. The child doesn't have a clue so it's entirely your own opinion about hand-me-downs that you're working from.

I would also buy a new going home outfit, but not new blankets. In my family the coming home outfit is a big deal.

My first LO came home in a hand me down outfit LOL...so I can't even imagine what #2 will be wearing.

@MsMini: Totally agree. Especially if it's hand-me-downs from a sibling. I actually think it would be sweet if all your kids came home from the hospital in the same outfit. It would be a family tradition.

Hand me downs! My LO came home from the hospital in a yellow striped sleeper. It was huge on her, but the only thing that wasn't MASSIVE on her.

For the coming home outfit, I would go with sentimentality
So if you want Baby2 to wear the same thing home from the hospital as LO, I'd pass. If you prefer each child to have a unique coming home outfit, then buy something new. I think both options are equally special, it's just whatever feels sweeter to you.
You could also do the same outfit, but a different hat and booties or something? Or the same/similar outfit in a different color or pattern?

I'm all about the hand-me-downs. I've been buying good quality clothing (on sale, though!) for LO so it will last through a couple more kids. We did get a nice baby quilt made just for him, and I plan on doing that for each kid. I thought it would be a good heirloom but also useful for a decent length of time (play mat, blanket, bedspread, etc).
