If it were me I would keep everything but the stuff that screams girl like dresses, skirts etc. Even onesies can be layered under other clothing in the colder weather.

I think it'll be silly to give away or sell toys just because they're pink to rebuy in boy colors. You won't get much back then have to turn around and pay full price for the same toy in blue?

I would definitely add a few things just because baby 2 deserves a few new items! Don't worry, you will be buying clothes just for him to fill in here and there. And there will be toys for birthdays and holidays. I'm sure people will buy him very boy toys.

I would reuse as much as possible! Let me know when you start selling your DD's dresses though.

I was just wondering this yesterday as I was sorting through LO1s boxes and bins. Keeping anything gender neutral clothing wise, and luckily we have lots of gender neutral blankets/gear...but still lots of pink bibs, towels, toys, etc.

We were team green with our first so the big gear stuff is all neutral anyway. We also have lots of neutral or boyish newborn stuff since I have two nephews, whose moms were also team green. So if this baby is a boy we will be ok for the first couple of months probably.

After that I think I'll have to go through everything. PJs, I imagine we will keep and just get a few extra boy ones for pictures. Blankets, towels- fair game. Then like others I think we will just fill in what we need with boy things (if it is a boy- we should find out end of July!).

@shopaholic: I would re-use everything except for the overly girly items (clothes mostly). Blankets, bibs, and toys it doesn't matter what colour they are. Plus, you'll probably be gifted 'boy' items.

You could try dying them with RIT dye, especially for items that are small. Though I would probably dye them red and not blue, since the blue might turn out more purpleish.

Like @WinterBee, I'd probably reuse most things and only replace items that are especially gender-specific (i.e. dresses, skirts). But then, we tend to avoid things for our daughter that are too "girly" and embrace all the colors equally. I plan to do the same if we have a son the next time around.

We had boy then girl, but we bought all new clothing, some girl specific blankets and one girly hooded towel. Most of the towels were GN. The blankets could have gone either way I guess, but I wanted her to have her own blankets in case she got attached to any.

I'm not really a fan of boy in girl or girl in boy clothing or GN clothing in general, but that is just my personal preference. DD was/is also tiny and DS grew like crazy, so they wouldn't have been able to overlap clothing anyway.

I see a lot of moms in your situation looking to trade boy/girl stuff. If you're considering starting over anyway it might be worth it to post on a local Facebook group or mom's club site looking for a swap partner.

I'm in the same situation but my DD used almost exclusively boy hand me downs so DS is getting blue/boy stuff from his sister. He will use some pink though.

@hilsy85: we have the reverse of your situation. DD is almost 3 and DS is in the way. I have girl stuff for days so if you ever want to do some kind swap of pink for blue just give me a shout as I am sorting through things now!

I thought I would have Pi wear some of Zumas less girly or GN pieces but really I havent. Idk, it's been too fun to shop. Also when I found out I was having a boy, I bought like 20 A&A swaddles in boy colors and fabrics and bough boy binkys. Ya sometimes they switch buy we try and keep separate. Zuma does sometimes wear Pis clothes now though. So we will see if it ever makes it to Pi. Here's a pic of Zuma wearing Pi's 3-6 shirt.

I would keep anything that is gender neutral, but I would definitely want to buy some new clothes and accessories! I think for me, a lot of it is that I think baby clothes are so cute, so I would want an excuse to buy more of them!
