As soon as we found out LO was a girl we shared her name with whoever asked. Everybody loved it..... or at least they said they did to my face. And the biggest perk was all sorts of personalized things for her.
We're planning on doing this again.... only we will be sharing our boy and girl names because we are team green. Hoping it goes just as smoothly!

It went great for us. No one has said anything to my face about it liking the name and well, if they did they are kinda crummy anyways!

I regret it and baby isn't here yet. My family ruined names for me. It's partially why we are still wavering on a girl's name (team green) and my due date is 8 days away.

Oh gosh we told everybody! Some responses were positive others were confused. I'm a pretty silly person so a few people thought I was kidding about the name. It was mostly a generational thing. Older people were like "what? You can't name a baby that!" My age or younger thought it was cute. If I wasn't set on it or if I cared what people said I wouldn't have shared.

So far, we've told anyone who has asked us outright (but not publicized it). I haven't gotten any negative comments at all, but that's just to my face...who knows what people are actually saying! In any case, I couldn't care less what people think...once she's here, no one will give her name a second thought.

We didn't have any negative reactions. We told my side of the family before birth and waited to tell DH's family until she arrived. I think what silenced the peanut gallery was our confidence in her name. When we were still debating names people felt more comfortable speaking up about what names they didn't like. As soon as we nailed it down no one said anything.

We were Team Green both times, so we felt comfortable sharing our boy and girl names. It was fine! We did get some weird comments, but we were confident in our choices so they didn't bother us at all. Most people were very positive, though.

We have shared since we decided on her name about 6 weeks ago - so far its gone fine with nothing but positive results. I think sometimes it depends on your preference in names. The name we chose was Katherine Lynn - which us pretty simple/classic so its hard for people to have a strong reaction to it I think.
For people who go with more creative names I think they are more susceptible to initial shock/reaction especially when dealing with people from other generations.

We shared with DS with no issues.
For this baby I am a little nervous...we only have a girls name picked out so far and the people that know it do have opinions on it (it's been the girls name for 5 years)! It is not a common name in the US, basically not use at all, and no one has really heard it before or associates with something else, but we love it and are very set on it if we have a girl so it doesn't really matter what people think.

I was fine with sharing. We did a fun baby name reveal game at my shower and everyone loved finding out early! We also included the name in our maternity pictures
Some people had opinions about it but I knew that would happen whether we told them before or after and I ignored them. He is 15 months old and at least five people still voice their opinions on his name and decided to call him something other than his name because they don't like it, so it really made no difference. In addition I made sure I solidly loved the name before sharing it- so I stood up to the naysayers and didn't doubt my choice! I still LOVE my sons name and believe I couldn't have picked a better name for him!

We have shared our name with quite a few people now. It has received a fair few negative responses - mostly "but that's a boy's name" - and it did make us wobble a little.... but ultimately, it worked out great because we grew more and more certain that we loved the name enough to not care what other people think!

I think it works better when you say "this is the name." If you give the possibilities, people feel like they have permission to weigh in.

We go into it as, "Her name is Hyla Sophia." No questions. My mom hated it at first, but I think someone told her to keep her opinion to herself, because now I hear nothing but love for the name. Most people say they love it.

With number one we knew what his name was going to be and didn't care what anyone thought! We got a lot of positive reactions to his name. With #2, we are down to 2 names and aren't picking one until she gets here. Because of that, we aren't saying anything on either name so it'll be a surprise. We don't want anyone to try and sway us one way or the other.

My SIL told everyone her son's name when they found out it was a boy and to my knowledge she only got positive reactions.
Before we knew boy or girl we told my mom our top names for each. Later I told her we changed our mind on one and she said "oh good" and that's when I decided nope, we're keeping it a secret until baby is born now! But I don't think we'll decide til baby is here anyway. But we aren't even sharing our ideas. We are taking suggestions though!

Yep, we shared the name, and it went great! We have some nice personalized items too. The only issue I had was that my mom doesn't LOVE his nickname, Xander. He's 3 months old now and I think it's finally growing on her, haha.

We did a surprise reveal at our baby shower at around 33 weeks
