The question says it all. I've heard of people buying presents for their partners who have just given birth, but has anyone done the reverse? I'm due in less than 2 weeks and was wondering if I should be getting something for DH on the occasion of him becoming a dad? Father's Day isn't all the far off, so maybe I should just wait until then?
Has anyone bought their (non-childbearing) SO a present on the occasion of their child's birth?

I got DH a sentimental gift - a US Coast Guard life preserver ring pillow from Land of Nod - to go with DS' nautical nursery theme because DH was in the Coast Guard. I gave it to him with a thoughtfully written card thanking him for working so hard to provide for us during my extended maternity leave that's largely unpaid. We also used it as a prop in DS' newborn photos (baby tucked in life preserver!) and hung it on our wall.

I got DH a Nespresso machine when she was a few weeks old just for being such a great partner.

@Astro Bee: You don't have to, but I will be. We both want rings (to be fair - I married a jewelry loving woman like myself ;)). That said, my friend who just gave birth did buy her hubby a little gift before their baby was born.

He got the joy of having a stretch mark free tummy and not having to do motn feedings because his boobs don't work.

I ordered chocolates for my husband and had a note in there congratulating him on becoming a dad. He was super supportive during the pregnancy and with the labor.

I would if he liked gifts. As it is, he doesn't care about them at all, so I'll just save the money. He's getting me something, but my love language is gifts.

It's a sweet idea! I think a "congrats dad!" present is nice.
But yeah - I didn't give him anything on the birth cause I was the one doing all the work, haha!

I'll probably get him something super hero related. Maybe a super hero dad t-shirt. He liked the onesies I made him when we finally got our BFP.
DH did volunteer to be a SAHD so when I have these babies, he will definitely stepping up to the plate. So anything to build his self confidence that he can do this is good to me. -
When our three boys were young i got my husband a Dad (superscript)3 shirt. He loved it and wore it all the time so when my daughter was born I made him a Dad (superscript)4 shirt in the same color to replace the old one.

Not right when she was born, but when he went back to work a week later I gave him a framed picture of her for his desk because I know it's hard for him to leave her to go to work.

His bday was 3 weeks later, so he got a nice bday gift and then father's day was shortly after. We struggle to gift birthday, anniversary, and christmas gifts, though, and often don't because otherwise we just spend money to spend it, and there's really nothing that was desired in the first place.

Heck to the no... I was already pushing out this child from my body! Also DH's birthday is like ~ 4 months post birth, and then there's father's day, so plenty of occasions to give daddy gifts!

No, we have never exchanged gifts for giving birth.

Nope! My gift was in respect of months upon months of puking every day, getting kicked in the vagina from the inside, epic heartburn, stretch marks and giving birth to a baby. DH joked that his gift was the "put present" - he got to put baby there in the first place!

I can honestly not remember...so I am going with no, out of pure laziness and dropping the ball...not because I don't think he didn't also deserve something to mark the occasion.

@Astro Bee: i've been thinking about doing this. my husband has been so great to me during my pregnancy and this might be our only baby. i'd like to commemorate it and get him something special but i'm not sure what. he loves watches so i'm thinking about a new watch with an inscription. but time is running out... so we'll see!
