A little over 3 months ago, my optometrist fitted me for contacts. I noticed some things were weird when I was fitted, and it hurt like hell.
A week later I had a wicked eye infection. I went back, they prescribed me erythromycin, I left. I got it again, went to a general practitioner, and was again prescribed erythromycin. I've still had these infections every week, and finally got in with an ophthalmologist last week. I havent worn the contacts since November. He said I was fitted incorrectly for contacts, and I had ulcerated deep tissue infection in BOTH corneas. He said I'm lucky I didn't lose partial, if not total, vision. They are going to check the damage done next week. I already know i have a scar on the white of my left eye.
So now I know that I have ulcerative bacterial keratitis (corneal infection) in both eyes, and I'm rotating three different kinds of prescription eye drops 4 times a day. I'm so scared for my appointment next week! Anyone else ever have this? Any advice?
