Yes! I just made one a few months ago. I'd do it again! Tufting was a little tricky, but not awful. (Not the best pic, sorry!)

No, but I want to try one. I'm going to follow Little green notebook's instructions. She has some really nice tutorials on tufting and upholstering ottomans.

@Mrs. J: How did you make it? DH doesn't think we can do it. But I think we can.

@Smurfette: we bought a coffee table on craigslist for 20 bucks, and DH built a frame on the bottom so it wouldn't have a table shape. He drilled the holes for tufting too. I used three inch foam all around and batting over that. I tufted with self covered buttons and waxed thread (get a REALLY long needle) and stapled after to get a deep tuft. I used a staple gun to attach the fabric and batting. I followed these tutorials mostly:

@Smurfette: Wow, so ambitious! I'm impressed... it's all I can do to figure out how to have IKEA furniture delivered without paying their $80 delivery fee.
Wish I had your DIY skills!

@Mrs. J: Did you see LGN's update for the tufting? She just used screws and a drill. She put screws in for the tufts and then glued the buttons on!

@Espion: I didn't! That would have been great haha but thread with an 11 month old works out instead of glue

I love this post! I'm actually attempting to make a headboard this weekend and if that goes well, maybe I will make a matching ottoman too

I didn't make one, but I recovered one. My mom gave me an old ugly ottoman she had in storage, and I recovered it in a fun fabric. It was super easy, and I think it turned out really cute. Thrift stores and yard sales always have ugly ottomans for sale. All you need is fabric and a staple gun.
