Ebay sent me an incentive to list 2 items and another if I sell 2 items. I have a few lululemon tops I never wore and have been meaning to sell. I am a little nervous about it. I have heard of people who lost money on shipping, and worried about avoiding potential pitfalls. Any tips? Thanks!

It's super easy now to sell on eBay with their phone app. Just weigh your items before you list so you know what to charge for shipping. Or you can use flat rate envelopes. If you're going to sell a lot, I recommend buying plastic mailing envelopes (buy from an eBay seller). They are super cheap and light, so they won't add to shipping costs. Take a lot of good photos - they make a huge difference. Make sure you accurately describe the condition and show photos of any flaws, no matter how small. Consider eBay and PayPal fees when setting your price.

@78h2o: how do you weigh your items? I really don't want to make a trip to the post office to weigh it. Do you have a scale at home?

I do. It's a flat kitchen scale I've had for years. It comes in handy, esp. since with PayPal you can print all your postage at home and put your packages in your outgoing mail or schedule a pickup (one item must be priority or international). I rarely go to the post office

You can order priority shipping supplies for free and have them delivered to your house. I use the padded flat rate envelopes and flat rate boxes a fair amount. For anything less than 1 lb, first class is the cheapest option and still pretty fast.

Following, I want to start selling a few things also! My husband does but he always underestimates the shipping.

DH sells stuff on eBay... I asked him and he said definitely research your shipping options so you know you're not going to incur a loss. Second thing is to look at your competition.. Research what other people are selling the exact items or similar items at. If you really want these items gone then you can always be a little competitive w/ your prices.
