I am worried because my LO likes to bite us. We stop it right away and try to redirect her but she still tries to nibble on us!
I don't want her biting another kid at daycare!

I clicked on this thinking that your LO had been bitten! whew!
I worry about this because DD has 8 teeth and knows how to use them. I really hope she doesn't pick up biting other kids. She's already the roughest one in there, even though she's the youngest/smallest.

@BabyBoecksMom: My LO has 8 teeth too! And they are so sharp!

Oh man - this just reminded me that I bit a kid at preschool! My parents sent me a year early because they thought I was smart lol but apparently not smart enough not to bite another kid. I did it when they turned out the lights for naptime My mom assured me that I was the star pupil the next year, though! I never bit a peer again so biters can be reformed, haha.

Lo used to bite. She bit both of her cousins. Drew blood once too! We don't send her to daycare and she eventually stopped biting

@JerricaBenton: good to know!

LO hasn't bitten anyone yet but I'm so afraid he is going to be a biter. He is teething right now and has actually bitten me a couple times. But I know its not on purpose yet. Hopefully we don't have to deal with that!

Both my kids have been bitten. I received incident reports. It was so obvious which kids were the "perpetrators" even though they aren't supposed to say who did it, haha.

I really hope my child does not get bitten, I would NOT be happy with that

@autumnlove: I'm sure the parents of the biters do appreciate the anonymity :-). If DH were the one to do pick-up, I'm sure he would give the baby an evil eye, haha. We always lament that we would rather our kids be the "biters" though.. jokingly.

DD has been bitten and she also bites. Both things happen from time to time at daycare. Neither has been so frequent that it's a problem so I don't sweat it.

Biting is pretty normal up to a certain age. Our daycare actually outlines in their policies that until the kid is around (I think) 2, biting isn't necessarily punished -- the kid gets redirected and the parents notified, but it's "developmentally appropriate." It's when they're older that it become more of an issue. That being said, I'll still probably freak the eff out if LO ever gets bitten -- or bites somebody!

Yes and yes. It's a common problem and we of course freaked out the first few times it came up, but our daycare is really good about dealing with it and it never became a regular problem.
I was thinking about writing a post about this for the blog, but I'm too afraid of how controversial it might get!!

Yes and yes, here as well. LO bit three times, all in one week (nearly 2 months ago now) and hasn't done it again since. Unfortunately she gets bit about once a week. I don't stress too much about her getting bit as I know they are dealing with it.
