Yes for severe croup - she developed stridor and was almost admitted to the hospital but she responded to the breathing treatment and steroid shots after a few hours. It was awful and so scary
ETA: she was 22 months at the time

Yes but it wasnt too serious. Fever and vomiting that ended up being the flu.
grapefruit / 4441 posts
Yes, due to croup/high fever. She almost had to go a second time when she bit through part of her tongue (slipped in the bath from sitting, despite me having a hand on her). but fortunately, her ped was able to get an ENT to see us immediately instead I'd the ER.

Yep when she was five weeks old she had a rebleed of her cephalohematoma from her vacuum assist delivery. Of course I didn't know that's what it was and it freaked me the heck out.
eggplant / 11824 posts
Yes - it was a typical FTP over-reaction, LO was totally fine!
pineapple / 12234 posts
Yeah, a high fever that lasted 5 days...it was a weekend and urgent care wasn't helpful.

Yes at 7 weeks for a UTI. She was admitted for two days. Is totally fine but that young they admit you for almost anything.

Twice. Once for a dislocation, another time for really bad stridor from croup. Both times were no fun.

Yes. We went once when her 104.9 fever wouldn't go down, even with antibiotics. Tylenol suppository and 15 minutes later and we were happy.

Yes, for an allergic reaction to peanut butter…
We went to Urgent care first but the doctor there wouldn't treat her because of fear of liability, so he insisted we take her to the ER instead, which took even MORE time. I was a nervous wreck that day.

Yes for a food allergy on dh's birthday. His face was so swollen until his eyes were swell shut. It was such a scary night.
coconut / 8279 posts
Nope - crossing fingers, besides regular check ups he's only been to the doctor once and it was for small cough that lingered too long. I knew he was fine but felt like I'd be a bad mom if I didn't get it checked just in case. He's 26 months.

@autumnlove: not yet but he was directly admitted to the hospital by his pediatrician when he was 2 weeks old for a breast abscess.
watermelon / 14206 posts
Yes...when he was 4 he stuck a piece of Nerds candy up hoa nose and got it stuck.
A couple months later he hit his head pretty bad on a corner of a coffee table.

Yes, when Chloe was 4 months old we took her to childrens for labored breathing and a high temp. She had a uti. We went back the same night by ambulance because her temp spiked to 105 and she had a seizure.
honeydew / 7283 posts
Yup. She had blood in her stool and her pedi office couldn't see her that day so they wanted us to take her to children's. Turned out to be MSPI. The ER visit was totally unnecessary but at least we identified her MSPI.

Yup! And ridden in an ambulance 3 times (only once was with sirens), and a helicopter once!
Sucks though. For those of you who haven't had to, count your lucky stars.

Lo #1 did because she seemed to be choking on something and nothing we did help. She ended up being fine. So far lo #2 has not been thank goodness!

@dagret:
LO was directly admitted in November for a blood issue. So scary!

2x, both for falling and hitting his mouth. First time needed stitches, 2nd time didn't thank goodness!

Once, when he fell (on his head) and I panicked. Luckily, he was fine. Hoping to avoid the ER for the next 18 years!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
For croup! Thankfully he was fine but it was scary when he sounded like he couldn't breathe.

No, not yet, knock on wood.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: That's so scary, I'm sorry mama

Yes, severe RSV at 5 months. Started turning blue because he wasn't getting enough oxygen...it was horrible.
nectarine / 2994 posts
Almost 17 months and haven't been to the ER yet, hope to keep it that way!

Twice. Once at a few weeks old for colic. New parents and screamy not farty baby. The second time was two days before Christmas for croup/broncholitis. LO received a bear there that the local HOG group donates each year. Really sweet.
