ugh - annoying!!!

For things like that we can call the city and they will issue a citation. I would probably drop them a note first asking them to take care of it but otherwise I vote you see if that is an option. The way the city sees it is that if there are ugly yards it brings property value down which in turn brings down tax revenue.

Well, right now, our backyard looks like that :-/. We're taking care of it this weekend. Thank goodness the view is blocked on all sides.

The house next to us looks like that only it's vacant. It attracts stray cats, the 1 acre "yard" is 3' high, and I can't get the morning glory off the fence. It is so frustrating! I vote call the city as well.

Ugh, I hate that. One house can bring down the whole neighborhood. A neighbor just put up this hideous fence in their front yard. It looks so ugly and makes the neighborhood look dumpy IMO. I feel like it's not allowed, but don't want to be the one to report it.

DH and I aim to be the second worst looking yard on the street. Okay, we are not that bad, but just barely. We have a corner lot with a lot (15) pine trees and it is a full time job keeping this place presentable! Hope our neighbors don't hate us!

Ugh ny neighbor is like that. They are clearly not handy, but I don't get why they don't just have a low maintenance yard.

Can I be Team Bunny? I'd much rather have them than a bunch of chemicals being sprayed all over the place. But neighbor dude does need to mow and remove his garbage regularly, for sure.

@spaniellove: I can only speak personally but I would be seriously offended if a neighbor did that to us! Also, for us LO plays in the grass and tries to eat it.. so absolutely zero chemicals for us. I know you said he is retired so he probably doesn't have similar concerns but..maybe he likes the bunnies! I know we love the ones that come into our yard

I also have to agree with others in saying that his yard does not look bad at all in that picture. Is that just the one good looking spot in his yard and the rest is gross, or is that the worst part? He may just not be really into having an artificially perfect yard. Maybe he's into greener stuff (lawns treated with chemicals can be bad for the environment, watering them is a huge waste of water, etc). Maybe he loves bunnies. I know I love to watch them. There's a good chance you'd have bunnies around even without weeds. I see them in my neighborhood all the time, even in pristine yards. I also wouldn't call the country if that's the worst of it or close to it. They work to ensure health and safety, but I doubt they'd do much over such a minor cosmetic issue. I'd also be insulted if my neighbors dropped off a weed mat and note.

If your dog is going nuts, maybe it's more of a dog training /behavior issue and you could try working with him on that. I mean, it's also kind of unfair to expect him to conform to your standards of what a good enough yard is just because you don't want your dog to see rabbits.

I've also heard some plants repel rabbits. I think impatiens? Maybe try planting some of those around your yard.

@spaniellove: that's really not soo bad. We have neighbors 3 doors up who are legit hoarders. Their entire lawn looks worse than that weedy section.
