Just curious as we gear up to send our oldest back to daycare/private preK.

Nope, they've been back since the end of June and so far no cases at their schools *knock on wood.* My son's preschool was actually open the whole time for essential workers, but we kept him home for several months.

No, but we did have a scare. One of the girls at daycare got tested after having several symptoms. And then her test broke and she had to re-test, so 5 days later it came back negative, thank goodness.

Our daycare has shut down rooms several times and even the entire daycare once. It hasn't affected DD2s room yet. The older two were in camp and now in school. No issues with either yet. We are in Louisiana and I expect to have someone get affected. We'll deal with that when it happens.

No. DD's center has had 3 positive cases since July. But, there are lots of kids coming back this week/next so I'm feeling nervous.

No, she's been going the entire time (dh and I are "essential" and her daycare remained open). They've had one staff get Covid and they shut down that room for 2 weeks, but no one else contracted it.
I was sick a couple of weeks ago and got tested, kept DD home, and was negative (yay for regular bugs lol), so she went back as soon as we found out.

No. Our preschool was only completely shut down for the first two weeks. Opened up for essential workers after that, to everyone with a limited capacity at the end of April, and at normal capacity in June.
My kids went back in June. There have been no issues before or since they went back. I hope your transition goes a smoothly!

No. My daughter attended two camps and my son has been at preschool. The preschool director who is also his teacher had a positive in her household. She quarantined while her family member was sick and her test came back negative.
I think it's more likely that her house got Covid from the school than their limited visits to the grocery store but nobody at the school reported symptoms.

@Corduroy: Our daycare will soon be able to start testing all staff once/week as part of a program for asymptomatic adults that they were invited to participate in. I have a feeling with 40% or so of adults asymptomatic - and probably higher rates asymptomatic amongst small kids - it will uncover a lot we wouldn't have otherwise known about (which is good, but when we send them back I do envision it being pretty likely that there will be classroom closures).
There were actually multiple teachers in ours that got sick back in early March just before they shut down. No kids are known to have gotten it, but that was back when testing was nearly impossible to access so who knows. There wasn't an exposure in DS's room, so we only learned of this well after the fact... We opted out of the rest of the school year, as they needed to reduce class sizes for covid precautions, so haven't been back yet (but are planning to ultimately return)

DS1 was exposed at summer camp his first week so we had to isolate while we waited on results. He ended up being negative but the isolation was annoying enough that we canceled for the rest of the summer

Our daycare/pre-k reopened in May and has only had to close for 1 week since then. Two teachers tested positive from the same classroom so they had those families quarantine for 2 weeks and ended up closing the whole school for a week so they could clean and test all of the teachers.
I know it may happen again but hoping that my kids are able to attend for a majority of the year.

DD started back in July (with significantly reduced class sizes - some families have made other arrangements, and I expect that other students will return in September). There have been a few staff members and students out while waiting for test results (for themselves or family members - some due to symptoms, some due to possible exposure), and DD's classroom closed for two days, but so far no one has tested positive.

Not yet. We haven’t had anyone test positive at our daycare yet. They are sending home notices when parents test positive or are exposed. They also sent a note that a teacher had a slight fever and got tested, but so far no positives in the school itself.
We’re hearing less from my daughter’s elementary school, but they specifically said they wouldn’t notify unless there were 2 positives in a class.
Like @Mrs. Toad: we’re in Louisiana where rates are really high, so I expect we’ll be expose soon though and am surprised we haven’t yet... at least to our knowledge.

My middle’s school had opened back up in June for daycare only and our director said all good so far. We are gearing up to send back in a few weeks too 🤞🤞🤞

Our school is all virtual, but my daughter attended day camps in July and August. We're in a state where cases increased a lot in July, but as far as we know, we haven't had any exposures (thankfully!). Definitely no symptoms. We've been mostly isolated to a few close friends and family other than her camp attendance. The camps did practice preventative measures like small groups, masks, and lots of hand sanitizer.

Nope. He’s been in daycare the entire time minus two weeks in the beginning of covid. There’s about 16 kids and they’ve been split into two groups until this week. No exposures at all.

We've been back since May. No positive cases for any students, teachers, or staff. Just one parent had a positive test in May. We live in Arizona where July had 1,000-3,000 positive cases a day.
