@mrbee: Thank you for the new thread, I feel so special! Too bad I can't think of a good not in person breakup story; I'm a face-to-face girl. I have had guys try to get back together via text, which really should be an in person thing. That's the best I can do!

Yes! My last serious relationship before I met my DH I broke up with him via text. He wouldn't answer any of my phone calls, I had no idea where he was living (long story.....) and I found out he was cheating on me! Sooo I didn't think that he deserved the common courtesy of a face to face conversation. I just wanted it to end ASAP!

I broke up with the only other boyfriend I have ever had on the phone. I don't feel sorry at all because we were in a long distance relationship but I came to visit family near him, planning on visiting him while I was there.... Well every time I called to see if I could come over he would tell me he was busy or had to go do stuff so I had enough and broke up with him over the phone. He cried.

A guy broke up with me via IM. He said I was "hot, but uninteresting". It totally blew my mind as I'd always thought the reverse was true! Eventually I figured out whet he really meant was "I'm threatened by the fact that you're smarter than I am"

my "first" boyfriend and I broke up over text message, we were 16 so that explains it... never would have done that when I was older!!

I had another boyfriend when I was 18-19 and we were long distance so it was over the phone too. I actually was going to draw it out because I was going to see him a month later but he knew what was going on and told me to just get it over with..

I think I may have broken up with my first bf in Jr. HS over the phone. Even worse, I think I told my friend to tell him. Hahah!

I dated a guy for two years in high school/college. We were at different colleges 8 HOURS apart and I drove down to see him in person and break up with him. He knew we had things to "talk about" and after we had our talk at dinner, I think I spent the night and then drove back to my parents house which was only 2 hours away. It was a long trip and I'm glad I did it in person but it still ended really badly.

The last guy I dated (before my husband) broke up with me over the phone. It was Friday right after work on a holiday (labor day) weekend and he had his cousin and her friend coming into town. We had been dating 3 years and definitely had our issues BUT I was extremely upset and angry that he would feel justified in a phone call. I drove my butt over to his place and made him hash it out with me face to face. I met my husband a month after the breakup so it really was the best thing that could have happened for me! I don't know how much longer I would have held on to that relationship had he not broken up with me.
