DH and I have been thinking about taking our LO on a Disney cruise after several friends have recommended it. The hesitation we have is that their kids are older than our LO, who will probably be around 19-20 months when we go. Neither of us has ever been on a cruise and really had no interest prior to having LO.
Any tips or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

We're planning one for next year! I really hate disney itself, so I'm hoping the cruise will give the kids a bit of taste, without making me miserable. Technically we will have a 7, 2, and 5 month old

Totally on our list of things to try... I have heard varying things about best ages to go. Friend of mine went with 4 and 2 yr olds and had a blast. Another family recommended waiting until 6 or 7. I think there is something for everyone..

I really want to but will wait until she's old enough to be in the kids club by herself. Personally I wouldn't want to cruise with a toddler. They won't enjoy it, you'll pay full price for them, and you will be tied to a tiny room for nap and evenings.

@T.H.O.U.: That's my concern...she probably wouldn't be able to stay in the kids club alone. I'm also worried about naps and nighttime sleep...I really don't want to be sitting in silence in our room while she's sleeping!

I haven't been on a cruise, period. But a Disney cruise sounds fun and we may do this when LO is old enough.

I haven't been on a Disney cruise, but I have taken 2 regular ones. I took my baby on a cruise right after he turned 6 months. He did great on it! We took my mom with us, so between the three of us no one felt like they were tied down all the time. The baby watched and had fun at the musicals and game shoes. If you wanted to use the babysitting service or kid's camp, I think they need to be at least 2.

@betsyboop: I think they have in-room babysitting (for a fee, of course!) so you can have dinner while the baby sleeps in the room with the sitter. Or you can bring the baby to the nursery for naps, too!

We haven't (we've cruised on Holland America and loved it), but plan to go on a Disney cruise within the next couple of years. I think the kids club starts at age 3, although the ship/cruise we were looking at also had a nursery and offered babysitting services as well.
If your LO is into Sesame Street, Beaches resorts also offer babysitting and special SS packages (breakfast with characters, bedtime tuck-in by a favorite character, kids clubs, etc.)
