My 7 1/2 year relationship ended over the phone. It was long distance and I wasn't going to wait for a visit to end it.
I was dumped online through im .....through a mutual friend. He didn't even have the nerve to do it himself!

@chopsuey119: So you were both the breaker and the breakee at the same time sorta... woah, that's kinda meta.

@mrbee: eh? relationships weren't overlapping if that's what you're asking..?
first one ended in 2002ish. The second.. 2008 or 09? it's all a blur!

@chopsuey119: Sorry, just meant that you had broken up with the person in your mind... and yet they were breaking up with you and so you were the breakee in their minds.
Nevermind this may be a sign that I'm making no sense and need to get to sleep!

Umm I honestly can't remember- I think it was more like it was obvious that it was over- it kinda went without saying. We only dated a couple months when now-DH and I were broken up. I really liked this guy, but I was totally not over DH. I ended up crying in the other guy's car over DH. Yeah. Awkward.
He's such a nice person though and I've apologized for getting involved with him when my heart was still clearly in another place. I felt so bad

Yep, the official breakup happened via a phone call (cuz he forced it out) with my ex before DH.

I broke up with a boyfriend on the phone during my lunch break. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My coworkers called me a cold-hearted biatch for the rest of the day.

No! I didn't have texting until a few years ago. Does an argument over the phone that turned into a break-up count?

Does AIM count? LOL of so yes! Oh, and by phone too now that I think about it bwahahaha

My first boyfriend broke up with me in a text and I was soooo freakin mad.
My last boyfriend before DH was my most serious relationship. We were long distance and having some problems, so we called a break for a week. During that week I realized I needed to leave him, but I wanted to be decent enough to wait til wE could see each other in person. So I tried asking for an extended break, but he knew what was going on so he said I could just do it over the phone. It was hard, I didn't like it.

Yea, the only other relationship I was ever in ended over the phone. It was a ldr and even though I went down to california and was able to go see him, he was busy everytime I told him I was coming over so I just went ahead and broke up with him over the phone...he cried.

I had one break up with me by phone. Another one broke up with me by text. After not returning my calls for 2 days. Anytime I ever ended a relationship, I did it f2f. The one and only time I did it it by phone, the guy sent me a card a week later with a quote from Hannibal Lecter in it. GROSS. I learned my lesson.

Never text, but in HS and college I had relationships end over the phone. But all my "adult" relationships have been ended in person and in a more mature way.

My grad school boyfriend broke up with me via IM because I was "hot, but uninteresting". It totally blew my mind because I always thought my interestingness and awesome personality made up for my lack of hotness...
It took me a while to figure out that the real reason he broke up with me was because I'm smarter than he is

My first breakup was in person. It was easy because we had drifted apart and were really just friends at that point. The second one was over the phone. However that relationship was hard to end because he wouldn't let go. It was a scary and stressful part of my life.
