DH and I both did the ice bucket and donated. We lost my BIL (DH's brother) almost 2 years ago after a 10 month battle with ALS. He was the best man in our wedding and got to meet M once before he died. It breaks my heart that he will never meet our DS. He left a 35 year old wife and three children under age 7. I'm a fan of anything that raises awareness AND money for this horrible disease that doesn't get much attention. Most people don't even know that young people have ALS and I'm just glad to hear people talking about it. Also, I'm sure BIL would have gotten a kick out of watching his whole family dump ice water on our heads

We haven't but will donate. A friend challenged my 5 month old to do it! Lol. So we will donate instead haha.

Was just nominated today...I was really hoping it would bypass me. I may just donate and skip the ice. I'm not much into putting a video of myself on FB, plus everyone I'm close enough to and would feel comfortable nominating has already done it. A friend lost her husband to ALS so I'm all for supporting the cause, but want to do so without the video.

ETA: I really was hoping it would skip me so I wouldn't have to do the video of myself on FB thing, but after watching this video it made me glad to do it. Anything that gives a boost to those with ALS both morale-wise and financially is a plus in my books.

@Charm54: I think I watched the same video and it was quite inspiring/so sad. It gives a really good visual of what can and will happen to people with ALS.

I have been watching the celebrity ice bucket challeges like CRAZY. I could seriously watch them all day long.

I have not been nominated.

Just did mine challenge last night. I was apprehensive because I am really shy and awkward in front of a video camera but did it because of the same video I saw that @CHARM54 saw. I did both the donation and video because I think it is great to build the awareness and its my way of doing my part (albeit a little one) to keep the ball rolling.

It is a horrible disease, and I personally know of 2 families affected by ALS.

yep- I was nominated and did the ice bucket challenge, but donated as well. couldnt afford the $100 at this time right now though.

DH did & donated after he was nominated. A friend of his has ALS and a close family friend of mine died years ago from it. It's a nasty disease.

I haven't been nominated but I might just do it anyway. My friend group is very in to bashing it on Facebook, saying it's not doing anything. But it's obviously working. It's raised a ton of money! It's not an organization I typically give to, but having worked for nonprofits for years, I think it's such a genius campaign that I want to support it!

I haven't been nominated yet, but I'll do it if i am. A coworker jokingly asked me if I'd do it, if he donated to the Fallen Firefighter's Fund I sent a blast email about. It's going to be over 100 this weekend....it's not like it's January

No I haven't but have donated. Work set up a thing to make donations and then they will match the donations. We had a co-worker diagnosed with ALS last year and she is not doing well. The company is also renting a dunk tank and my boss will be getting dunked in that once they reach their goal.

I did it! It was fun and not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Besides I'm always up for a little fun. Both DH and I were challenged, we donated.. he didn't dump water on himself but I did. We both posted a video though. I was disappointed that my nominee's did not do it.. Party poopers

No. I'm usually opposed to this sort of slactivism, 'awareness' spreading. I read, though, that donations to the foundation have SKYROCKETED, so I'm pretty into it. If nominated, I'd just donate.

I just got nominated! I was hoping to avoid it. I don't think I'll be posting a video.

I've been nominated twice (one friend's nomination didn't tag me for some reason); I feel as though awareness has been raised now for most everybody on my feed, so I won't be doing the ice bucket but I will be donating instead.

I was nominated and did it yesterday evening. My cat almost got iced!
