@Mrs. Taco:
That is so sad and scary.
I almost drowned in a pool when I was young, and being dunked or submerged in water unexpectedly totally freaks me out.

White water rafting - nightmare experience for DH and I. We were both in the ER in a foreign country - No English.
It took me a while (years) to drive on the highway after a bad accident.

@Autumnlove: i was also in a really bad car crash that totaled my car in 03? didn't drive for a month and used public transportation, partly because it took that long for inusrance to get me a replacement and partly because i didn't want to!

@babycanuck: I'm sorry! Mine was abnormally bad, most aren't that terrible I promise.
I'm a doula so I can say that with complete certainty - mine was NOT a normal birth and most aren't that scary. In fact I've had lots of mamas say right after delivery "that was awesome!". So don't worry too much.

@mrsjyw: Awww! I wanted to take public transportation but it wasn't an option.
I thought of this thread because my friend is having a hard time with crowds after witnessing a shooting at the airport a few months ago...Eeek!

@Reese: oh no! I also had a bad experience white water rafting in New Zealand.... Almost drowned but was rescued by our guide. Unfortunately till this day I still have a tough time in deep water, and I can't just jump in... It's getting better though, I keep forcing myself into water, but I used to body surf and ride waves and can't do it anymore, the water crashing over me brings me right back!

I took a very senior position at a new company and it was horrific. The culture of the organisation was dreadful and I just couldn't hack it - nine months after I started there, I had to leave. I took a £20,000pa pay cut to move to my current company. Three years on, I'm still terrified of taking a manager's job in case I can't handle it.

I'm terrified of the dentist since I had a terrible experience as a child, I have bad teeth too so I know I need to see one but I'm scared!
