My best friend has been to three destination weddings this year...Hawaii, Dominican Republic and Mexico!
I hope my brother or BIL have destination weddings if they ever get married!

I thought my sister would have one. Her dh is Australian, they met in eastern Europe and then had a long distance relationship for awhile where they'd meet in places like China and travel together. Their whole relationship was traveling. They had two weddings, one in our home town and one in Ny where she lives. Easy on my wallet .... but I was a little disappointed we didn't get to go anywhere fun.

Ours was a true destination wedding in Hawaii. Everyone had to fly there.
I was in a wedding in D.C. Where all the groom's side was from. I want to go to more "destination" weddings, but so far we have one coming up in Chicago, which is not that exciting if you know what I mean...

Wow, that's a lot for one year! I went to Thailand for a wedding once.

All the weddings we go to feel like destinations for us since our friends have gotten married all over the country, but sadly no true "destination weddings" to exotic locales or places where neither the bride or groom are from.

Mine was in Hawaii and then I went to one in South Africa.

Nope! I prefer local weddings...I'd rather spend all that money on a personal vacay!

We went to a friend's wedding in Italy (groom was Italian) and it was Aaaaaahhh-mazing!! We made a vacation out of it but the highlight was definitely the rehearsal dinner and wedding, so much food, dancing and laughing!

I went to one in the Adirondacks in NY, which was amazing! Part of the wedding was that they actually paid for the whole bed and breakfast (which is where everything was) for the whole weekend, so I didn't even have to pay for that!

Nope! Although I have friends from all over and have skipped more weddings that I have been to because of all the flying (=expense) involved. So sad!

We got married in Spain, in the village DH's dad is from... All my BILs and SILs got married there too, so lots of Spanish weddings for us.

Yes! We went to LA last year (our friend lives in LA, so it technically wasn't "destination" for them). And the year before we went to Kauaii for another friend's wedding. A group of about 8 friends all went, so we made a vacation out of it and had a group vacation for a week! That was great...

Yep, two different weddings in Maui. So fun but we definitely couldn't do it every year and we really only made it happen because they were two of my best girl friends.
