We did a few days of it when LO 1 was 11 months old during a "I want to stand up in my crib before I nap or go to sleep for the night" phase.

Not yet, we're not opposed to it, but never had to with DS.

We are toying with it now. I really don't like the idea, but she has had a heck of a time falling asleep the last week or so. Last night was night 4, but I gave in after a while. We will see what tonight brings.

Yep. We did a slightly modified ferber for both night and then naps. I really didn't want to but it got to the point where I was sitting up rocking her all. night. long. and after 5 nights I broke. It really sucked at bedtime for one night. And then on night 4(I think?) we had an awful night. But otherwise it was sort of magical. Naps were a bit harder. She really didn't cry that much but she would just roll around and not sleep and we had a 45 min time limit on naps before we gave up. It took a few weeks before she stopped skipping naps and we still have an occasional skipped nap but mostly it is so much better.

I've done check and console. It was only 35 min at the longest time, so it wasn't hard core or anything.

We did when he was younger, but he was constantly sick so we gave up sleep training. Now, he throws up if we let him cry too much/hard. He's one of THOSE kids. sigh...

We did some CIO when Liam was 17 months or so. I hated it and hope to avoid it next time, but we'll see.

Nope, I just can't handle the crying! And I'm not patient enough either.

A little for naps with #1 to help her break the nurse to also crutch before I went back to work. It was quick and painless.

yes, and he still cries for a minute or two before falling asleep at naps.

No. We did what I considered gentle sleep training where I would sleep in her room with her while she cried in her crib.

Yes. For falling asleep. We are now on day 2 for MOTN wakeups. The first night she cried for like 10 mins, but last night she cried on and off for about 30 mins.

no, I changed around her environment and changed her routine instead. Sleep training was the next step but we were lucky and never had to go there.

Not really. We started pushing back night nursing after a year by having dh handle early wakeups. There is some crying, but he's comforting her and I go in if she's really upset.

Yep occasionally we had to use it, but honestly she was a good sleeper. Now as a toddler, I'm about to break it out again, because her night time routine is awful (it's our fault too) but it's time to get back into her bed and falling asleep when we say!

Kind of? We really just had to teach him how to fall asleep on his own (PARENTS OF NEWBORNS: TEACH THAT FROM THE BEGINNING WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME haha). He was addicted to us bouncing him on the exercise ball for bedtimes and every MOTN wake-up. We did modified Ferber at about 6.5 months and it was life changing. His sleep got a million times better (he sleeps through the night now!) and he is a much happier baby for it. We are very pro-AP so I never thought we'd consider it but I'm so glad we did.

Yes, nap trained at 11 weeks. Life changing, no regrets. Night trying now with no regrets. It's soooo hard, but so worth it. I never thought that CIO would work for my LO, but it has.

yes it was life changing. luckily both kids were easy to sleep train.

Nothing against it but I just can't do it! I wish I could. We sorta tried with LO1, but he was having problems vomiting often so we could let him cry long because he would vomit. And I liked rocking him to sleep cause DH would do the kitchen. Also we tried night weaning and after a week he was still waking up at night.
And lo2, no, not yet anyway. I don't know how lo1 would handle it. Although he did cry himself to sleep last night,,,,while DH was putting on his pajamas! Haha, I wish I could've seen it. DH said he was snoring as he pulled up his pants.

Yes. So much. We have done full on sleep training at least 3 times. Some nights still at 15 months she has to CIO. If we travel or she's sick she gets used to waking at night & wants to sleep in bed with me so when we are getting back into our routine we have to CIO. Thankfully she does understand when I say "Shh, night night" and will lay back down but she still cries as she falls back to sleep.

Yep, at 3.5 months, 6 months and just this past week post-illnes at 10.5 months. Every time has been relatively painless and has resulted in extended periods of sleeping through the night. Zero regrets.

No. I believe sleep is developmental and not something that requires training. I am vehemently against CIO so that was never on the table for us. I think there are instances where sleep training is needed to get baby the sleep he needs, but in general is overused and done for parent benefit.

We did modified Ferber at 4 months and it has been life-changing so far. For example, last night I put LO down wide awake making hammy faces at me. By the time I went downstairs and turned on the monitor, he was asleep and slept straight through to his 4am feeding. Huge change from pre-sleep training where we needed to rock/bounce him only to have him wake up after one sleep cycle and not know how to go back to sleep.

Yes, and for us it was not at all dramatic. My 2.5 is still a great sleeper and such a bright, smiley little person thanks to being well- rested.
