I experienced quite a few while I lived in LA, and a couple growing up in Washington. Never went through any really big ones though. The worst thing that happened was it knocked the power out.

I've experienced 2 pretty small ones in Virginia. They scared me plenty so I wouldn't want any part of a big one!

Yep. I've lived in Southern California my entire life. I slept through the Northridge quake but my mom came flying in to my room to wake me up. I hardly notice them but most of the time, we are a good distance from the epicenter, so we're spared a good shake.
My east coast born and bred husband still gets excitable over them even though he's lived here for 15 years now. But he didn't bat an eye when Southern California lost power for a whole day and night a few years ago since he was used to not having power for a few days after bad snow storms. I, on the other hand, wanted to buy a generator after that outage. It's funny how to see how different things affect people based on where they've lived.

Yes many! I was visiting family in LA when the north ridge one hit. I remember I was keeping a tally of all the aftershocks I felt the next day. I live in California but have only felt a couple where I actually live. I also felt one when we went to Taiwan. That one scared me more than any other and it wasn't very big! I think because we were up a few floors so you feel more movement the higher up you are.

Yes! All the time while living in Japan. The crazy thing is sometimes with the minor ones, if they happened at night, I would get up to go to the bathroom not realizing that a small quake had woken me up, and would trip bc the building was swaying (most high rises are built on roller platforms to better withstand earthquakes). The first time this happened I was puzzled bc I stumbled feeling like I was drunk, but hadn't had any wine at dinner!

Yes, the first and only night I ever spent in LA there was an earthquake. It woke me and my husband up but we were so confused and disoriented that we just thought we were imagining it. In the morning, we saw the news and realized it was a 3.1 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter only 1 mile away! Crazy!

Yes, a few years back in Chicago!!! It was very minor and really just felt like someone was gently rocking my bed. I didn't realize there was a major fault line in the midwest. But nothing like the west coast.

Yes, a lot. I grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand, where we had a lot of small ones growing up. I happened to move away just before the big ones hit though, so didn't actually go through those.
Unfortunately the place I chose to move to was Japan, where there were frequently quakes as well. I was in Japan at the time the big one hit in 2010, but living further South that where it hit, so barely felt the quake but experienced the country effectively shutting down and the huge changes that it brought.
I was also in Taiwan when the biggish one hit around this time last year, but didn't really notice it. From what I remember, that quake was high on the scale but didn't cause anywhere near the destruction of Chch or Japan.
So year. Earthquakes are pretty normal for me and don't really bother me. I am living in Ohio now though, and it is weird not having any.
