Kind of a spin off from the nanny thread...
Have you? DH has so many times but usually while the kids were watching a movie. Ugh. I only have a few times. Once when I had strep, I gave DD the ipad in bed next to me and I had my hand on her foot so when she moved, I woke up. Another time, DS woke up at 3am, was cuddling with me so I thought he was asleep but he definitely woke up and started playing.
I know it's probably different for a nanny who you're paying to watch your children though.

I have dozed off on the futon in his (closed door) room while he played some early mornings. I'm a super light sleeper when it comes to him, though...he would shuffle a bit and it would wake me back up.

Only while he was watching a show...it is impossible to sleep while he's awake otherwise, he would never let me just doze off.

I don't think I have. But I have a hard time falling asleep under the best circumstances so the odds of me falling asleep during the day while she was awake are slim.
But I definitely play the "crawl on mommy while she lays on the floor" game.

@HLK208: Neither is D. We co-bedded for like the first 6 months? And I swear to god, D could sleep through E screaming through a diaper change (he has ear buds though...listens to audio books to fall asleep). He never woke up when E would wake up crying. Now he's the one that gets up with him, but I usually have to elbow him

No, but I'm a light sleeper and need it to be quiet, lights out, etc., so I can't just fall asleep in the middle of the floor or something like that.

Yep. I fell asleep on the floor last weekend (with my head on her Anywhere Chair) while E was playing in the room! I've done it while watching tv with her, too. And i did it while she was a newborn--I woke up and DH had taken her from me and I didn't even notice.
World's best mom here, obviously

Early pregnancy I have, DH was outside doing yard work so it wasn't a big deal, she was watching a show...and it turned into 2-3 shows...whoops.

A few times, after he has woken up very, very early. We sometimes come and sit on the couch if he will not go back down and I have been desperate for just another minute of closing my eyes. In this desperation, I have handed him my phone to watch to PBS Kids app and dozed off for a few minutes. As soon as he moves, though, I wake up, but I always feel so guilty doing this.

Only if it's like, super early morning and LO is in our bed and we're trying to get her back to sleep but she's just playing around in our bed--honestly, I'm not sure that I have actually ever fallen asleep in that situation because it's hard to sleep with a LO bouncing next to you in bed.....but maybe I've dosed off?
But she would be between Dh and I in bed, with nowhere to go.

Oh, totally. We watch movies on the weekends sometimes where I lay on the sofa and LO lays on top of me and we both fall asleep usually, but I almost always fall asleep before her.
Sometimes when I'm totally beat I just go to bed with LO when I put her down (we co-sleep). I definitely generally fall asleep before she does.
Doesn't change my answer on the other thread though - I would fire a caregiver who I found sleeping on the job. I don't sleep at work, they don't either.

No, but I am a horrible sleeper. Even in the perfect circumstance (it's dark, I'm in bed, I'm exhausted, etc.), it takes me forever to fall asleep. I could probably be awake for 24 hours and still not be able to fall asleep for a nap.

Yep. We were in his baby jail though so I don't feel bad because he was perfectly safe. He woke up super early so I just laid down in the baby jail and dozed and he played around me.

A few times in the middle of the night when T was wide awake. I put him in his bouncer seat and turned on a movie and snoozed on the couch while he watched. He would wake me up when he was fussy or tired of sitting there. Same with putting him in the bed with me and giving him a toy while I tried to sleep. Our bed is pushed up against the wall so I would block the outside and he could roll around for a little bit.

Never. We were all sick last week so I let the older watch a show in my bed thinking I could nap but he just kept yelling at me to wake up!

Yes, when I first started riding my bike with my daughter, there were a few times that I put on a show and we curled up on the couch. The house is totally baby proof, and I knew she'd just sit and watch, so I didn't worry. Totally different if it's a nanny vs parent.

I've fallen asleep while nursing in the early days but I don't think that really counts as LO'S awake time....otherwise, no. I'd have to be really really sick or tired for that to happen.

Yes, a handful of times. But I'm an incredibly light sleeper. I can't actually sleep unless it's completely dark, silent, I'm laying down in bed at the perfect temperature, etc.
One time both Wagon Sr. and I were both deathly ill with the flu. We had the couch on one side of the living room and the loveseat on the other, with the rug in the middle. We both fell asleep, one on each couch, while Wagon Jr. sat on the rug and watched TV. I remember snapping awake when he laughed at something and I was like... this is the saddest sight ever. Two parents who can barely get up for water and the bathroom and a perfectly well child watching hours of tv...

I used to nap on the couch with LO while pregnant with #2 (she was 2 at the time) - she was watching a show. she was touching me and I'm a light sleeper so it didn't worry me at all, but really helped me survive. we also sometimes let her watch the PBS app on my phone on Saturday morning in our bed, and we doze. of course now that only works if baby is sleeping.

Yes. I do it during bed time, she will be rolling around and I will fall asleep. I've also fell asleep when we are watching TV or if she is playing. I'm a light sleeper so any type of noise I jump awake.

Yes at bedtime. He takes forever to fall asleep - wiggles, rolls around, sits up and then lays down, etc. This goes on for a while some nights. I'm usually so tired that if it lasts longer than 10 minutes, I'm out. Then I usually wake up a bit later to find him sleeping next to me. He's 2.5 now so I know he can get on and off the bed ok. I would have been too paranoid and less tired a year ago and would have never fallen asleep.

A couple of times but only when watching a movie with my toddler. As soon as he got off the couch I woke up. I also have when he was coloring in his high chair and the baby was down in her crib. He was right next to me and I dozed off. I awoke to him shouting "mama!!" because he'd dropped a crayon he wanted.

Yes, but not completely and not for long... even if DH is there to run interference, I usually wake up in ten minutes to DS jumping on me or poking my nose or something. I can't imagine how that nanny was allowed to sleep long enough that she was snoring!

Every once in a while I will doze off on the couch while she's playing in the living room. I don't see what the big deal is. I mean she's briefly unsupervised while I'm in the kitchen or bathroom. And it's not like I'm right next to her every second she's running around. Something could happen if I'm awake or not.
*my opinion is different for a nanny/babysitter.
**we are talking 5 to 10 minute mini naps here not hour long naps.

Yes, for a little bit in a childproof room. So has my husband.
I've also fell asleep for a little bit when working as a nanny when I was watching a movie with the kids. But they were 10 at that point.
