DH has...I don't remember the specifics, but he got refunded right away, and then the bank did an investigation. He's got Bank of America and they're good about that.

I have. And I won! They gave me my money back immediately while they investigated!

I have and I won.
I bought something online and they never sent it to me. Took a few days.

My husband did when a restaurant added an extra zero at the end of his bill. He ended up getting ALL the money back the next day, even though he tried to pay for the original bill. He has chase bank.

Yep, once with Bank of America when a salon triple charged me. They refunded it while they investigated, and it turned out in my favor.

I just had one on my AmEx a couple weeks ago. My Starbucks auto-load somehow got hung up and double-charged me but only gave me credit once. I first tried to get Sbux to fix it but they had no record of the "dead" transaction so I had to go through AmEx. I think it took 2 weeks to resolve? They put the disputed amount aside while it was being worked on so I didn't have to pay it on that statement, then sent me a notice that a credit in the full amount had been processed. It was really easy.

We've done it several times when we've had issues with retailers, and it was pretty painless. It was exactly as @PurplePeony described and almost every time the dispute was resolved in our favor - I can't remember it ever not being in our favor. Sometimes it took months to close the dispute depending on what the issue was, but they never made it stressful for us.

@autumnlove: what happened?
We have had fraud issues before and our bank has never caused an issue about it. We were both reimbursed right away.

@Reese: I bought something on ebay that the seller shipped but I never received.

we just did, and it was really easy. DH called in the dispute and then they emailed him a form to complete, and they refunded the money on a "temporary" basis until the dispute was resolved and then informed us the temporary refund was now permanent. Entire process from start to finish took about 3 weeks, but the money was in our account the whole time.

Yes, I have. It was some unauthorized monthly charges. I called them, told them about the charges and they looked into it. After 30 days of not hearing from the people who made the charges, the money was refunded. Easy and straight forward to me.

@autumnlove: Have you tried going through EBay? I haven't used eBay in a while but back in the day I've had to file some complaints against a couple sellers. It was just as easy as asking my bank. I would try to resolve it with EBay first.

I've had to do it more times than I would like to admit. My identity was stolen a few years ago and the person had a fake ID made w/ my info on it, but their picture. They went around to about 15 different stores, opened and maxed out the cards using my info. Over $17,000 in debt in just two days. I spent 6 months cleaning it up. It. Sucked.

@bluestriped bee: I have....seller, USPS, PayPal and EBay and it isn't going anywhere!
@BabyBoecksMom: OMG, that sucks!

Yes. I had my credit card and passport stolen in Barcelona. I cancelled my card immediately, but the person continued to make charges with it. I filed grievances with the credit card company, and they were corrected and reversed very quickly.

@BabyBoecksMom: Not to threadjack, but how did you get it fixed? Someone opened up a Staples credit card with my social security number, different name, and different address. But because it's my social, it's followed me around. I've been disputing it with the credit agencies and the collections agency for SIX YEARS!

Probably 4-5 times. They always credit back the charge once the dispute is claimed while it's under investigation. I've always had a dispute stick, as expected since I wouldnt have disputed it if it wasnt legit!

@littlebug: I just called each company and told them it wasn't me and that my identity was stolen (name, SSN, etc). They closed the card and made me sign an affidavit promising it wasn't me, and it never posted on my credit.

I have and it's always credited until they settle the dispute. Usually I win, but one time I didn't. A really bad dentist messed up and I ended up spending 2k to fix it, abscess that led to root canal and all. I complained that she did shoddy work and that I didn't get the service I paid for lol. Got one credited, and one was paid back to the dentist.

I disputed hotel charges once. I had two rooms, one on points and one I was paying for but they charged me for two. The hotel was being slow about fixing it but as soon as I involved my cc company it was all cleared up.
