I've passed on the backstage for NKOTB in the past too but I think I might do it one day. Maybe.

I worked at a Counting Crows concert once and was able to go back amd meet the band.

I got to meet Good Charlotte before a concert was, won a contest for being part of their fan club! I've met them a couple of times since. Never paid for it though.
I would totally pay to meet Taylor Swift. Every time I see her show I do everything I can to get into the T-Party/Club Red...huge signs that light up, literally stacking my arms with glow bracelets, homemade shirts...I've just never gotten lucky enough. Sigh.

I met Gavin DeGraw. Didn't have to pay for it.
@wonderstruck: I've never met her but I did touch her arm!

I met Fuel a number of times back before they got big and they were still playing the local Media Play store.

We had tickets to meet our favorite band before they played but DH didn't get off work in time so we had to settle for just being at the concert. I'm still kinda bummed about it...
I've met a few not big name bands before....The biggest of those being Whiskey Meyers. I'm not really a fan so it lessens the coolness

@littlebug: they came all the way out to the lawn at one concert I was at, he stood right in front of me!

@lawbee11: Jealous!
Oh, and this wasn't backstage, but I ended up sitting in front of the lead singer of Boys Like Girls on the plane the first time DH and I went on vacation together.

Yes, I used to be a music writer so I got to go backstage and meet quite a few bands. Seems like a lifetime ago now!

I've met bands before but at meet and greets and after shows, not necessarily backstage.

I met Hanson a few years ago after a concert. Yes, they still make music and yes, I was just as excited as my 11 year old self would have been!

My sister and I snuck backstage to meet Ted Neely in his final performance of Jesus Christ, Superstar. Not exactly a rockstar, but a big hero for my sister.
(Turned out sneaking was totally unnecessary because he's so cool he waits after every performance to chat at length with everyone gathered at the stage door...but still, we got to him first)

I'm a country fan, so many of the artists are pretty fan friendly, have met most of the biggies and many of my faves (won't lie, most of them it was before they were as big as they are now). Most were meet and greets, but have gotten some luck and gotten some neat backstage experiences too.
Highlight was getting pulled up on stage once and getting taken back stage after the song....it was neat to get to watch the show from back/beside there (they let me stay for a few songs after!) (Dierks Bentley). Next would be tailgating and playing drinking games with another for an hour or so (Luke Bryan).
I love thinking about my crazy music fan days, but glad that's been put to bed now too, only thing is I am now totally a brat for where my seats are at a concert.
@wonderstruck: I met her before anyone really knew who she was after she opened for Rascal Flatts! She has the curliest hair in the world and there were like 10 people in line, and I thought "why not". Unreal to think what she has become from there, awesome for her!!

I've met esthero and the members of Sloan. Canadians might know who they are!
They were playing in small venues and just hanging around either before or after the show.

My cousin was an 80's pop singer so I only met bands from the 80s and most were not that cool

My other half is a sound engineer so this is a pretty common occurrence here. They're not usually people I'm impressed by though, to be fair! DH met Huey from the Fun Lovin Criminals when they played at the venue DH usually works for - I would have been impressed by that but I wasn't there! Duh!
Once, though, there was a guy playing from a band I used to love years ago (UK band The Inspiral Carpets) so I insisted on tagging along to the gig. I didn't want to be drunk so I had a Red Bull. Then another, then another (I didn't know I was diabetic at this point!). We were up in the dressing room after the gig, taking to this guy, and I started to feel woozy. All I remember is feeling so hot and dizzy. I stood up to leave for some air and next thing I know, I'm on the floor and they're calling an ambulance! The bloke from the band was towering over me, looking after me! It was really surreal.

The Wallflowers in college. I really wanted to meet Jacob Dykan but the closest I got was the drummer. They played near my college and a friend had a friend who worked as a bouncer so that's how we got backstage.

@lilteacherbee: I opened this thread thinking, "I'm going to hate the person that says they've met Hanson." I'm still such a huge fan! Some crushes never fade, I guess.

No, but would have loved to be able too meet Justin Timberlake..but I wasn't about to shell out that much $$$. The $200 ticket was enough for me
