Mrs. Bee had heard of this before, but I hadn't!

Apparently the grapefruit is "believed to be a hybrid of the pomelo and the orange." Now I kinda want to taste one!
Have you ever had a pomelo before?

I HATE pomelo! Every single one I've tried has been sooooooooo dry and gross! I have get to find a good one!

Yes I loooove them! I was introduced to them while visiting a kibbutz in Israel that farmed pomelos, and we ate a ton on that trip. The membrane is so thick, you actually peel it off and only eat the inside of each slice. It takes more effort than an orange or grapefruit, but worth it! I have to say, the ones I've had in the states don't compare but that could also be because I'm not on vacation.

Yeah, not a fan. They're pretty popular in the area we currently live though.

I've heard of them but have never eaten one. I doubt I would like it. I'm not a fan of grapefruit or oranges.

Yes, they're okay but not my favorite fruit. My mom likes to cook the peels in a black bean sauce

I love a good pomelo. I get them at the Asian market. They taste kind of like grapefruits, but way way better and less bitter.

Just like the durian thread the other night, I tried pomelo in college

Mmmmmmmm I love a good pomelo. I buy one every week when they are in season! I see them at Asian markets, costco, and regular stores too. They are in season at the same time as other citrus:)

@Rubies: I've always had dry ones too. But I suspect they weren't good ones.

Yeah I had one before. I don't remember if I liked it or not.

They are gross! Not juicy like a grapefruit, and the taste is just odd. I've tried it twice, never again.

I've heard of them. I think I may have had one a long time ago. Don't remember!

I had one, freshly picked in Vietnam. It was the best!! I've tried to find one here, but they're nowhere near as good...obviously! I feel silly even trying.

Omg yes! My mom loves this and she opens it for me. It reminds me of sweeter grapefruit! I love it! Kinda makes me want one now!

Yes, I love them! It took me a few times to develop a taste for them since I don't like grapefuit, but it is significantly sweeter. Costco carries then in the winter and we always buy them every week for about 6 weeks in a row until they aren't available anymore.
