I did when I was 5 and I remember it like it was yesterday. It was so bad. I also remember not being able to go to Chuck E. Cheese's with my siblings because, obviously, I was contagious. Have you ever had the chicken pox? How old were you?

I was young, 4 or 5 maybe. Those were the days when neighbours would have chickenpox parties so that everyone got it at once. My sister, neighbour friend and I all had it at the same time and our moms alternated days off work taking care of us together.

Yup, but I was young. Maybe between the ages of Kindergarten and second grade? I remember constantly being itchy and my parents yelling at me for picking at the bumps. I even recall having some on my scalp! I have some scars from all the picking. Oops!

I think I was 2 or something like that. My sister brought it home from school, but I don't remember it at all. I'm grateful it happened when I was young.

According to my parents, I did, but I was really young and don't remember it.

I got it when I was in Kindergarten and gave it to my infant brother!

Nope, never had it, and I've never been exposed to it. I have gotten 1 dose of the vaccine when I was in high school just in case I ever come in contact, but I really need a booster

@Bao: Yep. We had like three random classmates sleep over that week too because their moms wanted them to get it and get it over with. I wonder if that would be child abuse now?

Yes, I was 5 and I think tons of kids in my kindergarten class had it at the same time!

@prettylizy: Chicken pox party, woo hoo!
I had it in 4th grade and I don't remember it being too terrible.

No, not really. When I was about 18 months old my parents allowed me to be a test patient for a developing chicken pox vaccine. I was purposely exposed several times...when my brothers and cousins got it and at neighborhood chicken pox "parties" but the worst I ever got was a very mild heat rash that was gone within a day.

My brother and I both never had chicken pox. Our mom didn't either so we figured we were immune. They did a test before I went to college and I am immune!

I never got it, even though my mom purposefully exposed me to it anytime I had a friend or classmate with it. I ended up getting the vaccine when it first came out, but that was forever ago. I think I've been exposed to it once or twice since then, but not completely sure. It kind of makes me nervous, because it's supposed to be a lot worse as an adult.

@allison: I really don't know - I just explained to my doctor that I hadn't had it and she said that they can test for the antibodies (I think!) and they did and I was immune. They did it again when I got pregnant because the OB wanted to make sure.

Yep. My brother got it and I caught it from him. I was maybe 7? I don't really remember it.

@JerricaBenton: I should ask about that too!
I think I'm immune... I was exposed to it all throughout childhood and when I was 10-11 my mom figured she'd just vaccinate me.

Yes! I was in kindergarten or 1st grade and I remember being positively miserable. I had a really bad case, all over my body and in my mouth. I have few clear memories from that age, but being itchy and miserable with pox is one of them.

Never had them (rest of the family did), then I got the vaccine as an adult. Recently had my titers done and I'm still not immune, so I have to get vaccinated again!
