My parents purchased it and ended up having to use it for a medical reason. They were reimbursed for the entire amount of the trip (airfare, hotels, etc.). It was totally worth it for them. I'm not sure how much they paid for the insurance, though.

We did for a flight we booked through hawaiian airlines. It was $50 and it covered a full refund if I needed to cancel for any reason. I think there was a timeline (24 hours prior?) but I can't recall.

Sometimes, depends on the trip. I like being able to cancel.

I was going to for our Alaska trip when I was 16 weeks pregnant, just in case, but it seemed like a lot of policies had special pregnancy exclusions. I didn't research it that hard, tbh, but what I saw was that it wouldn't really help us much for the only reason we would cancel. Your friend would need to check carefully on any exclusions like that. Also, that's really impressive that she feels she can fly cross country with a child and an infant! I'm borderline terrified of flying with C when she's 5 months (hence my scouring all the travel with baby posts on here obsessively )
