My MacBook won't take a charge from the power adapter. I guess I shouldn't be surprised but the power adapters are ridiculously expensive to replace! I guess my cord did last 3 years and that is kinda long?

Do you know if it's the cord or the laptop that's having an issue? The charger that came with my MacBook pro was not charging my laptop, but my dad's cord would, so I brought the cord to the Mac store & they just handed me a new one & sent me on my way. They even gave me a more powerful one that will charge it faster

My computer charged when I used my BIL's cord yesterday!

I had to have mine replaced about 3 months ago. Same deal, the gave me a new one and I walked out free and clear!

There was a recall on PowerBook cords about six months ago. You might be eligible for the freebie. I've also ordered cheapy ones from eBay that work fine for about $20.

I just got a new power adapter a couple weeks ago. It was only 30-ish on Amazon. Unfortunately, once I got it, I realized that my battery had to be replaced, too. That cost a wee bit more...

Just recently! It stopped charging all of a sudden. My laptop is under 2 years old and the charger was covered by Apple Care.

I bought Apple Care for this one just for that reason. Last time the same thing happened to me and I didn't have the extended care. I also thought they were too expensive so I bought a non-apple brand to replace it. Can't remember, but I googled my way to it. Like Mrs. Blue, the next thing to go was my battery, and by that point my machine was so old I just kept it plugged in. Apple Care is definitely worth the $ for batteries alone!

My MBP cord lasted about 4 years then needed to be replaced. The new one I got last year was redesigned so it's more stable where it connects to the laptop... I like the new design much better!

I am having the same issue! My laptop is like 6 years old, but the cord was fried! I couldn't believe how expensive the Apple replacement was, so we went with a generic one, let's see how that goes.

Mine died about a month ago. I've been using this one from Amazon for about a month now, and although it's shorter than my original cord, the price was cheaper and I haven't had any problems.

Mine has been having problems (it's 4 years old) but if I clean it off a bit then it works again. Maybe it has gotten dirty.

Mine's going on 4 years now and so far it's been okay... not looking forward to replacing it since it's so expensive!

My macbook is still chugging away and I bought it in 2006. No issues with the power adaptor, but I did have to replace the battery twice. First time, it was covered under warranty and the second time it was not. Considering 'my baby' is 6 years old, paying for a $80 battery is fine by me.
Could it be your battery?

I think it is the charger because my computer charges right up when I use other people's adapters. Just left the Apple Store with a new $85 charger. Boo!

@bluestriped bee: My warranty already expired. I bought my computer in 2009. I looked at similar charger on Amazon but I wanted the one year warranty for the Apple. I hope this one lasts longer!!!
