I don't drive much since moving to New York, but from what I understand this can be really dangerous!
Have you ever texted while driving? Is it as dangerous as they say?

I have before but I won't do it anymore! I think the fine in CA is pretty high!

Guilty.
It is very dangerous so I don't do it anymore. Adding a baby in my car makes me a lot more cautious.
Plus this way, I can yell at other people who do it as they swerve all over the road without being a hypocrite.

Yep guilty too. I am trying to turn my phone off and throw it in the glove box once I get in the car just so i'm not tempted by it.

I have texted while at a stop light before, but it was kind of an emergency.
It is incredibly dangerous. WAY too distracting.

I have in the past and it really is dangerous. I do my damnedist not to by putting my phone in my purse on the floor of the passenger side so I'm not tempted. I have hands free bluetooth in my car so if I really need to get a message to someone while driving I use that and call them.

i have, but not in awhile. i will use siri to send a text while i drive. i won't type though, i know someone who was in a terrible accident answering an email while driving with their baby in the car. baby was okay though, the driver had a very long painful recovery. no email could be worth that!

It is dangerous. I've seen it compared to driving while intoxicated. I have done it before, but I don't do it now. My brother in law does it all the time and he scares me when I ride with him.

I used to, but stopped when it became illegal here. I am actually glad it did, because I didn't really realize how bad it was until I stopped doing it.

I have! Back before smart phone era, I could text using T9 without even looking at the phone. Occasionally I do it now, but not very often. Stop lights are fair game. Sometimes I read texts while driving, but only a quick glance! Glance, drive, glance, drive...not glance for 30 seconds, then look up.

Yes but I NEVER do when I have my lo in the car. The phone goes in the center console and doesn't get picked up until we're home.

My husband's coworker got rear ended because the driver behind him was texting. I do it at sop lights but I really should stop.

I have a couple times but I hate it. I haven't done it in a long time, it makes me feel really uneasy.

I used to check my email while driving years ago, but realized how dangerous it was and completely stopped. Now I'll drive with my iphone headphones on so if someone calls I can answer safely - but I don't even read texts if they come through!

I have a few times and am tempted a lot. But after those PSA's went out on TV recently about texting while driving, I have been sufficiently scared! No more txting while driving for me!

I was bad when I was younger, but its illegal here and I don't. Nothing is *that* important.

I used to all the time, it was so easy to do it by touch on the old flip phones. On the touch screens you actually have to look down so it almost never happens and if it does, it's at a stoplight.

I have but lately I don't at all, unless at a stop light.

I have. I don't now though. I text at lights and stops.

I have, but I'm way conscious about it now! I try not to use the phone at all while driving unless it's hooked up to my car stereo for phone calls!

I totally used to, but I have stopped. I definitely wanted to make sure I broke the habit before LO comes.

Once my babies came, I turned into a straight arrow while driving. My cargo is just too precious!

Nope and everyone knows it. I've tried a couple times and OMG! I was so scared and nervous so I stick to not texting while driving. I'll call that person instead if a response is needed right then and there. Hubby does all the time, and it makes me uneasy and I yell at him all.the.time. Sigh.

On occasion but not regularly. Only if it's important. Or at a stop light.
But it's recently become illegal here.
I think it's really dangerous. When I was a senior I was carpooling with a friend and he was texting and rear ended someone while going 40 mph. I had a migraine and some neck pain but nothing serious thank goodness. That scared me enough to be cautious.
@Mrs. Jacks: agreed!!! moreso now for DS, I am so cautious.

Guilty. I stopped when it became illegal here, I just don't want to waste my money on a stupid ticket. Now that my car has bluetooth, I toss it in the glovebox as soon as I'm synched and don't touch it until I'm at my destination.
