I just had a root canal done and had laughing gas during it. I'm pretty sure it took a lot of the stress off (but it was still pretty stressful!!!)

@Mamaof2: oh yeah, they have to. It doesn't numb you, it just relaxes you a bit. And makes you woozy if they give you a little too much.

Yep, I love it! DH hates it because when he was younger they gave him too much once and he threw up. I plan to at least try it out during labor.

They used to give it to me as a kid when I had cavities filled but I haven't had it in years.

Yep. I loved it ... I believe the offer "air and gas" to women in labor in Canada and Europe, right? I could get down on that!!!

My moms get laughing gas every time she goes... even just for a simple cleaning! haha! I have never had it though. I think her office is much more liberal with it than mine is.

Yes! I was having a gum graft done. I remember thinking "OMG this is going to hurt later!... Hehe"
Also had it during labour. No hehe involved that time.

Yep, I had nitrous when I got my wisdom teeth removed - definitely took the edge off because I remember it was scary but not overwhelmingly so! The only thing that sucked was after they shut the gas off when I was finished it was like a huuuuge emotional crash and I immediately felt very upset and started tearing up.

Yes! It's complimentary at my dentist's office. I only get it for fillings but it makes the experience so much better lol.

I had it once when i had my wisdom teeth pulled. It was sooo fun! Felt so smiley and happy.

@littlejoy: I had gas for pain relief during my labour just over two weeks ago, it doesn't really take the pain away but breathing the gas does give you something to focus on!

I think so...I was on other drugs too, pills. I was knocked out "twilight style" but I remember coming to one time, and they put a little nose mask on me. It smelled like berries.

Any time I've had dental work done they just give me injections straight into the gum (impacted wisdom tooth removal was about 8 injections by the end of it!)
I've had the gas before, but only during labour. It got a bit crazy there, very woozy drunk feeling.

No but I had it during labour, it's definitely a good distraction!
