Yes, but we were using natural family planning with the total understanding that it's not a fool proof method, and the pregnancy was happily welcomed, just not planned for at that exact moment.

Never thought I would, but yup. Just a few months before we were planning to TTC #2, which is why we weren't as diligent as we could have been with birth control.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with a surprise baby. My first baby took 5 years, 8 IUIs, and 2 IVFs before I got pregnant. This one came out of nowhere.

@erinbaderin: craaazy! But a welcomed surprise?
papaya / 10343 posts
Yes, but it wasn't really a surprise when the test turned positive because we knew we'd f'd up our birth control that month. We were sort of okay with an oops though or we would've been more careful (i.e. no pnp lol)

No. It's extremely unlikely that it would ever happen. And if it did the chances of it not ending in miscarriage aren't good.

Well, I was surprised at how soon I got pregnant and the fact that according to nfp calendars, I should have been outside my fertile window....but since we were having sex and not using birth control, pregnancy wasn't really a surprise!

Yes and no. I had a surprise chemical pregnancy. Didn't even get to call the OB. If I didn't "feel" so pregnant, I may never have known.

I voted yes but with a caveat- we were using pull out method. My DD was conceived the one time we didn't pull out. So, while we were surprised it happened on the first time so easily, we obviously we're aware it was a possibility. The same thing happened with our second that ended up being a CP. that was a little more shocking because I was actually tracking cycle length and symptoms and figured we were definitely in the safe zone - clearly I was wrong!

No, I had a scare in college, but that's it..
I was surprised at how quickly we got pregnant with #2, though!

Yes. Never ever thought I'd say that. We had a double birth control fail. We wanted another but not quite this soon. Our first two were very planned.

Sort of?
I was charting, and thought my fertile window was over, so we just pulled & prayed. Turns out I miscalculated. Never thought we'd have an 'oops' after IF!

Yes. Our first was a surprise for sure. We had a little.to drink for a few nights in a row and got sloppy. So while it shouldn't have surprised us, it did!

Yes. Got a little too tipsy on Valentine's Day and can't remember if we used protection at all or just improperly. Luckily we were planning to TTC within the year but the timing wasn't great job and school wise. It all worked out though and I see it as "meant to be".
My current pregnancy was planned but still a surprise the actual month it happened because we'd been trying for 6 months, I changed Jo bs and thought if it takes a few more months now, probably for the best - then it happened 2 weeks into the new job. And it was right before I decided to take vitamin B to lengthen my luteal phase so i was really not expecting it that month (but thrilled nonetheless).

Nope! Tried actively both times with our sons and a Cp before ds2.

The first time I was surprised it happened so fast, but I would still say "no" because we weren't preventing and were DTD, so obviously I knew it could happen.
pineapple / 12053 posts
Yep. We were trying to avoid but I miscalculated due to a move and travel. Thankfully it wasn't far off from when we were going to actively try!

Yes. Lo1 was a surprise. I was on the pill and didn't think of using a back up method while on antibiotics - she was a happy surprise Lo2 was very much planned and took 15 months to conceive.

I'd decided to close up shop after 3 years of trying with no results, but we still weren't using protection. Annnnnnnd that child was born last month. You can only be so surprised when you're having a lot of unprotected sex, but still . . .

Two. I didn't know I was pregnant until I was almost 11 weeks with my first child. I had light spotting around the time of my period so I thought it was my period. Second child I was ebf around the clock hadn't had a period since 2 years previous due to nursing and pregnancy. Total surprise baby!

Yep! We were somewhere between NTNP and using natural family planning... so, I mean, we know how babies are made. But we were still shocked!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
Nope! I got lucky cause I went through a short time of not being very careful. But now we're super careful!

Kiiiinda! In that we were pulling-and-praying for a whole year with the full knowledge that we could end up pregnant.... then we stopped pulling 3 months prior and just said what will be will be".... so we were surprised but not shocked by any means!

First time, I got pregnant while on depo. Weird. Second was PNP and he pulled out but apparently not in time.

@erinbaderin: same here - DS was an IVF baby so I assumed it wouldn't happen on its own. On CD 65 I finally tested and yep BFP!! Shocked and thrilled at the same time!
