So far almost every one! but they don't count till mama sees them!

I missed the first time she rolled back to belly -- she'd been *almost* doing it while she and I were traveling, but she saved the real deal for her daddy the day after we got home. I wasn't surprised, he's her favorite
@yellowbird: I can't believe your daycare allows that! I personally wouldn't care that much but my DH would be pissed if daycare put anything cosmetic-related on her.

Yep. Words, pottying, walking, crawling. Such is the life,of a working mom. It doesn't bother me too terribly. If it was a #1 priority, I wouldn't work.

First word. My husband had LO while I was at work and sent me a video of him saying "da-da" over and over with a note that said, "I win."
I told him I'm okay, but if ma-ma isn't his next word I might seriously cry

@Tanjowen: aw, my LO said dada, then baba or nana, then the other one, and then mama. It was worth the wait.

@yellowbird: I am surprised they painted her nails at daycare!

I thank our lucky stars both DH and I saw E's first steps. So we haven't missed anything major so far. E's daycare knows to keep their mouths shut, ha!

@PurplePeony: Oh, I guess I missed the first roll! But daddy sent a super cute video that made up for it.

@PurplePeony: @Mrs. Sunshine: we use a sahm. My LO is the only one she watches besides hers!

@swedishfish: I think that's how it is going to happen too! I look forward to hearing it so much

She had her first steps at daycare. I knew it was about to happen and wasn't too upset. Its just part of being a WOHM.

Does taking him places count? I missed the first time he got to go to the Bronx zoo

Yeah, but I don't know what. Honestly, i don't care. Whether she does it first for DH or daycare...all that matters is that I do get to experience it. You can drive yourself crazy with these "firsts".

I don't think I've missed any, at least not the big ones. It was really nice having the year off with her so I was there for all the big stuff like rolling, crawling, walking.

I am sure. I just told day care to not tell if she did something first. Luckily she took her first step as I was dropping her off. So I saw that. Then a month later she started walking all over day care like a boss, and her teacher send me a video.

I think DD's first steps were at daycare. (I only think so, b/c daycare didn't realize they were her first, and so didn't make a big deal out of it.) DH definitely missed DD's first steps.
Also, daycare does a lot of things with the kids before we would ever think to -- like drinking out of a regular cup, using silverware, etc. I usually find out months after the fact that my daughter has acquired this new skill that makes her more independent, while we are still treating her like a baby at home.

I missed the first roll. She did it for DH, and he started screaming from across the house that it had happened, but I wasn't anywhere close to catching it.

E tends to perform her new tricks for grandad (while Im at work) but I don't mind because its lovely to hear "have you been showing her how to touch her nose, she did it today!" etc when I pick her up!

Being a WOHM I expected to miss a lot of firsts. However sick days have allowed me to see several. LO was close to taking her first steps when she got HFM or pneumonia (one of those week long illnesses). She walked after being out of daycare for 5 days do I think I saw the first.

I view the first time I/DH sees it as the "first"; since, well it is the first time we're seeing something!
We did miss crawling, while on vacation; so it's not just working parents who miss firsts womp womp
