I loved Cinderella growing up.
Not sure we'll be purchasing actual DVDs for our LOs though..
We have a few movies downloaded on our Ipad currently. She hasn't shown much interest in them yet.

I'm sure sooner or later we will. I'm trying to minimize screen time for her though so we haven't thought about it yet. Yesterday I was looking for some songs to sing to her and I youtubed some sesame street and she totally lit right up.

I didn't think we'd buy a lot, but once she turned around 3, the Disney phase started. DH buys a lot on his iPad for her... It's hard to think what popular Disney movie we don't have!

No. LO is too young but my MIL & I were listening to a dismays classics CD with DD and it made me super nostalgic and excited for that time to come.

We already have a Disney collection that was started before LO was conceived. They only release the true classics every ten years or so (on a rotating schedule) so sometimes I'll just buy one if I happen to see it at Target or something.

Not yet since she's still so young (only 7 months). We have a good Disney collection but it's all VHS.

I have a bunch on Blu-ray and DVD that I bought for myself because I live them, so I'll probably just keep adding to that.

We didn't purchase any but we got a bunch gifted from a cousin for his 1st birthday. He hasn't seen any of them though. We're trying to minimize TV time and movies are so long! And he would get mad if we ended the movie early. So we'll let him watch Mickey Mouseclubhouse or Sesame Street for 20 minutes a day.

We have Beauty & the Beast and The Lion King. I bought Beauty & the Beast for myself because it's my favorite Disney movie and The Lion King because I found it for $15 on Black Friday (bluray/dvd combo).

Lo is only 2 months but DH and I loved Disney DVD's when we were younger and since they can be pretty pricey we are going to start collecting some of our childhood favorites now, slowly. Beauty and the beast, Little mermaid, Lion King, Finding Nemo, Aladdin and Toy Story are a few we will start with

I have a few DVDs that I bought for myself that I'm sure eventually LO will watch: mary poppins (one of the classics that @MamaMoose: mentioned only gets relased once in a long while, Lilo & Stitch, and Finding Nemo.
I've asked both sets of grandparents to be on the lookout for Chinese language versions of Disney movies when they go back to their respective home countries. I hope letting future LOs watch them in Mandarin & Cantonese will encourage them to learn and speak more and be bilingual.

I just bought Cinderella on DVD/Blu-ray since it was just released. I'll prob wait until next year to buy more. Disney has an annual sale for Cast Members and Blu-rays are around $15.

I've been collecting Disney dvds and bluerays for several years now. My husband always gets me a new one for Christmas, This year I asked for 101 Dalmatians or Aladdin. Last year he got me Beauty and the Beast.
My hope is that by the time we have kids we will have a great collection of classics.

We started collecting Disney DVDs a year or so before TTC. We now own every single Disney movie ever made.. haha. Plus childhood favourites of mine such as Thumbelina, All Dogs Go To Heaven and Feivel Goes West!
Can't wait until our little one can enjoy them!

Oooh, I'm in the total minority here, but I'm not a huge fan of the message that Disney sends to girls. We'll see... maybe in a few years.

@Mrs. Jacks: I think maybe they've been getting a little better? According to this article, Pocahontas, Tiana and Mulan are pretty kick butt: http://www.nerve.com/entertainment/ranked/ranked-disney-princesses-from-least-to-most-feminist
Maybe you can just pretend Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella don't exist?

@mrs. jacks: no, I'm another scrooge right here with you. I do kind of like the old school animal ones like 101 Dalmatians and the Rescuers, though...

@Mrs. Tricycle: @mjane: I'll revisit in a few years... and I have fond Disney memories myself, so I'll check out the animal ones myself first.
And I do love Pixar (which is Disney)... so not a total scrooge!

I'm collecting them even though she hardly gets any screen time yet. I love them
Not that worried from a feminist standpoint, they're fine to have in the rotation with other movies and stories. That said, I'm not down with Disney Princess merchandising, but I do enjoy most of the movies.

Not yet, he's still too young, but when the time comes I'm sure we'll get a few.

@Mrs. Jacks: I hear the latest one (Brave) is pretty good, but I haven't seen it myself.
I adore Pixar so for sure she'll have those, but I also like Disney. So far we only have Pixar movies and I'm looking forward to start a Disney collection as well.

@Mrs. Jacks: Oh, yeah, I definitely remove my Scrooge hat for Pixar. Pretty lovely (and unobjectionable :)) stuff! I also have a total soft spot for Beauty and Beast, because Belle is so into books, but I don't know how I'll feel about showing it to my future kids.

@Mrs. Superhero: Totally agree! I hate all the princess merchandizing crap they make now! I thought it was bad when I was a kid, but it has gotten way worse. I actually hate licensed toys in general though, it seems like all kids do is act out the movies and they aren't being creative.
