Anyways, have you? Next week, I'm taking our 9 week old to my parents - 2.5 hours away by car - by myself! I want them to see her before I go back to work and want to go there to, well, show her off! My husband is looking forward to getting some uninterrupted sleep for two nights.

Yup! When ds was 3 weeks old we drove 2.5 hours to visit my family and to go to a friend's sons first birthday party. (Sidenote - my due date was her son's birthday!) It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. We left right after I nursed him and he slept the whole way. Of course by the time we got to my Mom's house he woke up and was starving. So the first thing I did was feed him. I am actually making another trip with him by myself this weekend. DS is 4 months old and doesn't really like being in his car seat so this might be a long drive...

Yes! Last year when Mavrick was 1 we went to Cape Cod (9 hour drive) with my family but DH worked and couldn't take off.

I haven't had to. Hopefully your trip won't be that bad..... just try to plan around a nap! Luckily you're going to a place where you should be getting plenty of help.

Yes many times, always to visit my family (about 3hr car trip). When DD was littler I would time these trips to coincide with nursing and try and avoid having to stop on the way. Once she got bigger I would plan them to occur either at night or over naptime.

LO is due in December, and I can see myself driving up to see my mom with just her at some point next spring. It'll depend on work schedules, but if Hubs has to work, I'll go alone.

I've gone to the beach for 3 nights with DS solo. It was hard but only because he was getting a tooth and was suuuper clingy/whiny for almost the entire trip.
