Have you tried a Sausage Roll?

    Never had a sausage roll but I have sausage and cheese kolaches all the time!

    hmm, I've had kilbasa in pastry before and pretty sure there was a layer of cheese in it too. I'll try the British version anytime.

    @Cherrybee: ok I was just watching The Great British Baking show and they were making "suet" and "spotted dick".

    Never heard of these.

    Never had one but all of the pizzerias in NY have sausage or pepperoni rolls that seem very similar.

    Canadian here! And yes...I love sausage rolls! I didn't realize the US didn't have them!

    Grew up eating them in New Zealand. I liked them except when there was too much onion! I prefer meat pies though.

    Of course, here in the US I find I expend a lot of energy explaining that a chicken pot pie =/= meat pie!

    I've just got up (its morning here) and I cant believe how many comments this thread has!

    @hellobeeboston: Spotted dick! Yum! Suet is just beef fat but we make lots of food with it.

    Add me to the list of Canadian's who know and love sausage rolls I had no idea that these don't exist in the US! We will sometimes have these for dinner along with a salad and veggies on a really late or rushed evening

    @Cherrybee: yes! But I was born there and lived there for a few years. They are amazing! I thought they were called "pigs in a blanket" here?

    @Mrs. Goose: Over here, pigs in blankets are little sausages wrapped in bacon. We have them with Christmas dinner.
