When Bee and I visit the Philippines, we'll be traveling with her mom... and staying with my mom and dad! So we'll both be vacationing with our in-laws. 
I like Bee's parents, so don't mind vacationing with them! I'm looking forward to it actually.
Have you vacationed with your in-laws? Do you find it stressful or enjoyable?

Vacationing with my in-laws is better than my own family, I'd do it over and over again! Much less stressful. My family is go-go-go, they're more relax and see some stuff but when you get back from vacation you don't feel like you need a day or two to recover from vacation like you do with my family!

We went on a trip with the in-laws last year to a football game in San Diego. It was stressful for me. First time meeting them and they already didn't like me before we even met! While there they invited DH to dinner and said only him because they wanted to talk. Luckily DH thought that was cruel and we just did our own thing the rest of the trip. So no, I do not like traveling with the in-laws

Nope. They never go anywhere. Seriously, when we visit them, they don't even go out to eat and they live in a resort area! We go down to stay with them but we don't call it vacationing.

I've been on shorter road trips with them, but not long vacations. I think I'd be fine with it though, we get along great his family is all about boundaries so I wouldn't really have to worry much.
DH has been on a few vacations with my family! My family takes more vacations because they fly and his mom is scared of flying. I'm actually hoping that one day in the near future we'll all go on a cruise together.

I've been on a couple vacations with my in-laws and it was AWESOME!!!! But I love Hubs family (at least half of them). I haven't vacationed with my MIL - don't think I'd like that at all, haha.

My in-laws are really generous with vacations and we typically travel with them once a year. There are times where I get frustrated but in general they are great to travel with and they tend to pick vacations where it is easy for everyone to have their needs met (cruises are a big one with them.) The hardest part for me is that they can happily eat every 6 hours or so and I prefer eating smaller meals every 3-4... I definitely got lucky with my in-laws though, they are pretty laid back, supportive and easy going.

We went to Germany for MIL's birthday one year. It was us, MIL, and two of DH's brothers and their wives. We went to Germany to visit DH's aunts and uncles and cousins. It was very stressful. Besides MIL, DH is the only one who speaks fluent German and is close to all the German relatives, so he was in charge of everything. The two of us never had free time away from family, which was tiring. We also had to do stuff everybody wanted to do which wasn't what I normally would have wanted to do. It was all really stressful. I'm ok with not having anymore long family vacations.

Yup, we've gone on a bunch of vacations with them. The only time it got tricky was when we rented a house in Hilton Head and everyone assumed we wanted to cook every single day because we love to cook. Um. No. We love to cook but whilst on vacation we also love to try the local fare! But the issue was resolved and I don't see that happening again in the future.

not yet. dreading the day we do. i can handle them in small doses, but we are just very different people! eventually we'll be traveling with them around nigeria, but i've decided we're not going to be going with them this year. i'm not ready for that trip for a lot of reasons.

vacationing with my in laws is so much easier than vacationing with my parents. I think my husband would agree. His parents are laid back and know how to have a good time and spend some money when something looks fun to do or good to eat. My mom and stepdad are super frugal and picky about what they eat, so that can get tricky when you're on vacation.

DH is vacationing with his inlaws right now, he seems to be having fun. We've gone on vacation with his dad before and it's ok. His dad is 86 and has a very different schedule which makes things tricky. We've never gone with his mom before, I had the chance to, but decided to stay home. She's not really easy to get along with.

Several times. I like it because FIL is a planner so it's like having a tour guide - the whole trip is scheduled and planned and I just get to come along for the ride.

His parents are divorced but we're traveled with both seperately.
His mom is great to travel with - very easy going and flexible. We went to Macchu Picchu with her and had a great time.
His dad on the otherhand is very rigid, doesn't like to eat dinner (and doesn't like you to either) and wants to set the itinarary.
I would probably never travel with his dad again. His mom, I would.

We just spent a week with my in-laws at the beach in South Carolina. It wasn't as stressful as I expected, although that didn't mean we didn't get on each others nerves. My in-laws are addicted to food so every meal decision became a huge ordeal. Plus if we aren't spending every moment with them they thought we were being rude.
My family is much more laid-back but we unfortunately don't vacation together since we live all over the country.

We went on a big vacation with my inlaws last year. It was fun and enjoyable and we truly appreciate everything they did for us but it was also miserable and annoying at the same time. I think the biggest issue was that my inlaws are on the cheap side and thought it would be a good idea for us to share a room with my sil and her husband. Umm no, two couples each married for a year should not share rooms. Plus, after spending every waking second together during the day I need my downtime and time to just chill with my husband. My husband and I have agreed that on all future vacations with the inlaws we will NOT share rooms, even if that means we pay for our own.

Not for an extensive period of time. We went to cape cod with my family last year but DH was working and couldn't come. I'd say it would be better if we went on a vacation with my inlaws, vs my parents. We've done 3 days with my inlaws, but nothing more than that.

We actually just got back from a week at the beach with my inlaws. Fortunately, they're pretty easy to be around, and we get along quite well. Plus it was free for us

Nope. They don't travel any more. The most we've done is gone up north to their first house with them for a wknd. Don't consider that a vacation.
We went on a road trip up north to Mackinac Island with my parents and brother last summer, so much fun. Can't wait til we can go to Disney with them

We've gone on a couple trips with them and aren't huge fans if it. They are great people however we always end up getting stuck with the bill and they always expect us to plan everything.
We went on a trip with my family to Hawaii and DH said it was the most fun he's ever had.

Yup! We actually just got back from a vacation with my in-laws. It was great! Of course there are things that I would have done differently if I were footing the bill, but it was an awesome time so I really can't complain.

No. I don't know if we ever will. They don't like to take vacations unless it's camping. That's the opposite of what we think of as a fun vacation. If they do anything other than that they just complain the whole time. We love going places with my parents though. They're more like friends than parents now.

Ughhh... we are taking our first vacation with them in less than 3 weeks!!! We are going on a 4 night cruise + 1 day at Disney with DH's parents, SIL & husband, and their 2 kids. We see them every weekend, but I can only handle them in small doses. I can't imagine spending almost 6 full days with them! There is a big language barrier between me and his parents, so when they are together they all speak Cantonese, I just let my mind wander and think about random stuff. We're splitting all the costs between us and SIL/BIL, but it will still be pricey. *sigh* I'm glad we opted for a cruise though. There are lots of different activities and we don't ALL have to be together 24/7!
On the other hand, we travel with my parents almost every year. DH doesn't mind because they foot the bill and we go to cool places like Spain, Greece, Taiwan, and this year, Croatia

Not with my in-laws. Granted they have come to see the baby twice kinda.
But we travel with my mom alot. She is great about watching the baby so we can do things together.

Yup, they've taken us on two 4-night trips, one to the Bahamas and one to the Breakers in Palm Beach. I mostly enjoy it, we stayed at the club level at both places and do fun things...Sometimes we all get pissy with each other but for the most part, it's all good I can't be too negative about free vacations, can I??

not yet. we've traveled with my parents a couple times, but my parents are big time travelers. we're hoping to take a small beach trip with my in-laws next summer when baby is here. i know i'll enjoy traveling with them -- they are SO laid back. they're the complete opposite of my family!

DH has gone on several vacations with his in-laws. I have not gone on any with FIL. We've gone on one weekend trip with MIL and her fiance which was just plain awkward and I hope to never repeat; it is also awkward when she comes to visits us.

when you guys vacation with just your MIL or FIL (or your own mom & dad), do you share a hotel room or get 2 rooms?
we vacationed with my MIL and she insisted on sharing a hotel room and it was awful 
when we've traveled with my parents & brothers, by necessity we get 2 rooms and its a lot less stressful.

yep, we've gone on family reunions and yearly trips to the lake with them. i think DH has traveled more with my family though. he actually went wine tasting with my mom, dad and sister while i went to a business workshop for two days!

Not yet, but I could see it being a little stressful. FIL gets a little worked up when things don't go exactly to plan. I would love to vacation with them...but maybe travel to the destination by ourselves and meet up with them at the end spot! haha

We went to the Galapagos islands with my in-laws before they were in-laws! When DH and I were still just dating they took us, which was SO amazingly generous - I think it's because they wanted DH to go with them (he's an only child) and knew he was more likely to agree if I was invited as well, haha! But that trip was amazing and I was so grateful, so it was fine! On more "normal" vacations the only part that gets stressful is sometimes feeling like we can't do our own thing and have to spend all our time with them, but we are working on being better with that. We do weekend trips with my family all the time so DH has done a lot of in-law vacas but he loves spending time with my family, so we are both pretty lucky, I think!
