I was born in Korea and have have been there 3 times. I'm sure we will take Olive and Charlie there one day as I have a lot of family there. Mr. Bee is Japanese-- he lived there for a little while, but I've never been. I can't wait to visit! Mr. Bee has family there.

My parents were born here, but DH and his parents are from Moldova. He moved here when he was 4 and 3 years ago he went back with his parents for the first time since they had left! He said it was a really eye opening experience to see how things are there (much different than the US, much poorer and less developed in parts).

My dad was born in mainland China and my mom in Vietnam. I haven't been to either place yet.

Yup! Parents were both born in the UK, and though I was born here, I lived there for a number of years as a kid. But, I guess that's not really "visiting"...

Yes, I've been to Taiwan a bunch of times! Love it and even brought DH with me after we got married (his 2nd time). His parents are from Hong Kong and I've gone there with them twice as well. We would definitely take our kids to both in the future! Maybe we'd wait until they were grown enough to walk on their own and could follow directions.
I finally did China (origin country of our roots) last summer and I don't think we would take our kids there until they were a bit more mature and older (at least 10).

Yes, I visited Korea as a baby and then my parents' divorce was so ugly that I wasn't allowed to leave the country for the rest of my childhood! I finally went back when I was almost 30, and have been back twice since then. Definitely taking my kid in the future!

yes...my parents were born in mexico and i went about 6 years ago with my dad and got to see the ranch house my parents built before they moved to in the city (near Guadalajara). total survivor style living..no running water and no bathrooms...i loved every minute of it because i got to see my dad in his element.
then last year when my grandfather passed away, his wishes were to be buried next to my grandma in mexico and i got to go with my mom to her little town...i loved it...and would go back at the drop of a hat...i have to say it was a little creepy walkig throught the town and having total strangers ask me if i was my parents daughter because i look so much like my dad...
one day i will go back...

My dad was born in Guyana and I've been there once. It felt like a once in a lifetime trip, I doubt I will go back. It was bittersweet to see the separation between the rich and poor, for a country with so much natural beauty there should be less people living in rundown houses.

My Dad grew up on various Indian Reservations, which while in the US, are considered sovereign nations under US law. We'd go back occasionally growing up for family events, ceremonies, pow wows etc. the Rez he considers his hometown was designated as the poorest county in the nation. It can be weird going back since we didn't grow up around that sort of poverty and my Dad quickly adapts back into the Rez lifestyle and speech while my brothers and I stuck out like sore thumbs.

I was born in Japan but grew up in the US. We moved to Tokyo 4.5 years ago. DH was born in the US but his parents were born in Germany. We have been there to visit DH's extended family.

Both my parents were born in China, and while I have visited China several times, I haven't actually had the opportunity to visit the city in which they were born and raised. I'd love to though!
Hubby's parents are from Cambodia and he went to visit many years ago. I'd love to go visit Cambodia based upon the numerous stories I've heard.

I was born in the Philippines and have only visited there once in the 3rd grade! I intend to go again someday, hopefully with my Mom so she can help with getting us around. We talked about going in 2 years, but we'll see.

My family is from (and I was born in) Taiwan, and I have been at least a dozen times! My dad's entire big family is there and I really enjoy going back. I've brought DH twice and he enjoys it too, even though he doesn't speak the language.
His family is from China/Hong Kong, and he has only been there once as a kid. We definitely plan to go sometime soon!

My mom is from Holland, but you know, I really don't want to visit. I feel bad thinking this way, but I've heard so much about it and so many of my relatives have gone to visit that if I get a chance to go to Europe, I want to see something new!
