Assuming there are no financial complications, do you think it is okay to start a family while SO is still in school (Engineering PhD) or better to wait until he is out (2+ years)?

There was a girl in my grad school program that was preggo when she started. She had to have a smaller course load, but she did it. It would obviously be easier if you waited, but then you'd be worried about him getting a new job or he'd be busy working, etc.
There's never a perfect time, so I'd go for it when you feel ready.

My husband's finishing up his PhD now and our little girl is 8 months. It's been a nice time I think. Money isn't great but we've made do fine and now that he's writing more than doing experiments he's been able to write from home a lot giving him lots of mini baby breaks.

@Maysprout: It is nice to hear someone who is doing it. It seems like no one we know has/would.
I know there is never a perfect time, but at the same time is there a better time? Garh, it is just driving me crazy trying to decide what I want.

@MaiLife: There were a couple guys in my class that had kids while doing a PhD and they all were successful, no matter whether the kids came at the beginning, middle, or end. The timing for the women having the baby was a lot more tricky.
