I need an up close pic of your eyes because I've never really understood what hazel is. Everyone who responds to this thread, post your eyes as well--please!

Here is an example. I am very similar to this, a golden brown with flecks.
I usually don't wear eye shadow, just mascara, bronzer, and highlighter. If I do it is usually in the pink and purple family.

@Anagram: I have hazel eyes. Mine are green and blue with orange flecks near the iris.

@swedishfish: I have nothing to contribute as I don't wear eye shadow. For the very rare times that I do (ahem my wedding) I have some in the brown family. That may not help if your eyes are of the brown hazel variety.

This is the best I can do with a picture of my eyes. They're greenish/brownish. I know there are a few good ones from our wedding/engagement sessions but I'd have to go get my external HD and that's just not happening

For eyeshadows I use purple as well. It's what the bare minerals peeps suggested and I can tell a difference when I try to glam up my eyes. Usually I don't use anything fancier than drug store (cheap-ass) but I have my BM stuff on hand for nice nights out.

@MrsScottish: that is exactly what my eyes look like.

@Anagram: a lot of people refer to my eyes as "yellowish" or "amber." They are dark green (olive) around the outisde and then a gold color next to my pupil, almost yellow!

I wear lots of browns, purples and golden colors.

My go-to everyday shade is Amber Rush by LOreal Infallible. It's a very pretty metallic rose gold. I use it all over the lid with a little matte medium/dark brown in the crease and a cream/white highlight under the brow and in the inner corner.

I wear the original Naked palette by Urban Decay. They all work for hazel eyes!

So... Hazel are brownish yellowish greenish? I always say mine are green but they are a very muddy green. Maybe another shade of hazel?

@hilsy85: that's what I use too. I'm more amber than hazel though. Do you know how impossible it is to get a picture of your eye?!

My eyes definitely change with what I'm wearing, especially green or bright blue brings out those colors. I have no makeup on and having a newborn has gifted some dark circles but...

As for what makeup I too rock a lot or purple. Lavender for day/summer and darker purple for night/colder weather. Browns for fall. Champagne is another one of my standard go-tos for day and summer. My top three shadows are Bobbi brown lilac, MAC trax, urban decay sin eyeliner MAC prunella

My eyes are probably more green than hazel, but now that I'm on my laptop I can post a pic. My go-to shadows are Covergirl Eye Enhancers "dance party" and Maybelline Expert Wear "lavender smokes." I looked them up online to get the most current name...they always tend to change it on me. Lol.
