Head Exploding. Need more name help! Narrowed it down...

I know I am driving everyone nuts with trying to pick a baby girl name. I just want to know who she'll be:)

I'm putting our top 3 on a poll. With our last name (Holler), I had originally nixed H names, and names ending in "er.". However, DH and I keep coming back to Harper, a double offender. Some of you have expressed favoritism toward Harper, despite the competition with our last name, and some MAJOR alliteration!

And if you have time, let me know what you think about Harper Holler- Is it surprisingly cute, or does it sound silly? I never want her to be laughed at:(

Aw, I like Harper. Alliteration isn't necessarily a bad thing. We went for it, too, because the only name I really liked ended up having some alliteration.

I like both Makenna and Avery much more than Harper. I'm not sure why, but I just don't care for the way Harper sounds but that's obviously my own personal opinion and if you love it that's what matters

Makenna (spelled McKenna) was on our list too! I loved it.

Well, like you, I'm not a fan of same letter first name last name either (I voted for Avery). But, I don't think that it's something that immediately lends itself to teasing either. Remember, kids will tease no matter what. If it isn't that her name is sing-songy, it will be because she's got glasses or because she's chubby or because she's smart and on and on.

I love both Avery and Harper (I think Harper is really cute with Holler!) but Avery won my vote by a smidgen...and really only because it was on my list for a while--DH was pretty "meh" about it though

i like harper and avery! but i chose avery just because i personally like the name better. but harper is cute too! i wouldn't worry about the alliteration thing. my maiden name is jennifer chen aka jen chen. and i was never made fun of for it. i think one year a gym teacher called me jenny chenny. but it was in high school and it didn't bother me. it wasn't mean or anything. so i think harper holler would be fine!

Have you ever seen the site Nymbler? You put in your favorite names and it suggests others based on them. It really helped us out when we were trying to name our LO.

I voted Avery. I'm not honestly a fan of Harper because of the alliteration and rhyming.

Just remember there's no rush. Charlotte didn't have a name until the week she was born and we changed our minds about 5 times before then.

I'm in the Harper Holler crew. It rolls so nicely off the tongue. I can imagine lots of folks always calling her by first and last name... and if I had a name like that I wouldn't change it when I got married. (Not that I did anyway).

I'm rallying the Harper Holler fans!

I love Avery...it's one of the top names on our girl list! Are you guys doing a middle name, or is that dependent on which first name you pick.

I think Harper Holler is very cute...but my initials growing up were HH and I really didn't like it (but I also hated my last name!).

I LOVE it and don't think it's too cutesy at all. I think it's perfect for a little girl name. I'm pretty sure it's "the one."

I love Harper and I think its cute together....I see NO PROBLEMS with it whatsoever colliding with your last name.

As far as Mackenna goes: I think it'll keep getting read wrong and I think people will call her Kenna CALL THE TIME without the "Ma"

Hahaha!!! Thank you all, girls!!! I TRULY appreciate your opinions! I have quit asking my mom/sister/family because they don't like anything that they say is not "normal." They hurt my feelings a few times!

And I also want to thank Elley, Mrs. Jacks, and Cheesetomywhine for getting your DH's opinions....I am definitely feeling a lot more love for Harper!

I like Avery, but it is getting SUPER popular for both boys and girls, in my small city, I saw 3 of them (2 girls and 1 boy) during my pregnancy alone.

You guys- What about Ayden for a girl? Ayden Holler....

I've read a lot about Harper getting a lot more popular, and being expected to get a lot more common with the Beckham's naming their daughter Harper Seven. That kind of scares me.... Then I came across Ayden and thought Hmmmmmmm:)

There are so many male Aiden/Cayden/Brayden/Jaydens that I would stay away from it because it will get confusing at school/in sports etc.

@Mrs. Jacks: you know what happened? My stinkin' backwoods family laughed at Harper Holler. We are close and I thought it would be fun to bounce things off my mom and sister. They ridiculed Harper, first of all, because to them (down in the woods in Louisiana) they haven't heard of a lot of "crazy" names like that. And then when they put it together with our last name- you can imagine that it really hurt my feelings...And shook my confidence? So Harper is still my first choice. Just not 100% and I'm going nuts:)

@MsMini: you are so right. I didn't take into account all the boy variations of those names...Thanks!!!

Not to knock La., bc I'm from there, but it's frustrating sometimes how not "with it" my family is compared to other areas of the country just due to lack of cultural exposure.
