Put LO down for the night and five minutes later she started crying. Went in to check on her and she'd rolled onto her stomach in her swaddle. So no more swaddling for us. She's a total swaddle addict, plus she pulls her paci out when she's got her arms out and, yep, you guessed it, she's a paci addict too.
I have no idea how we're going to convince her to go to sleep. In for a rough, rough night. 
Anyone got any tips?

Can you swaddle with her arms out? Then slowly transition to a sleep sack?

@Elderberrygin: we swaddle weaned cold turkey, and let her sleep on her belly once she was unswaddled. Is that something you'd be comfortable with? I figured since DD was mobile and had great head control, it would be ok...

@Maysprout: We've had her swaddled with a swaddle strap with a halo sleep swaddle over the top. I can't believe she managed to flip herself over in it - its basically a straight jacket.

@Mrs. High Heels: I'm fine with her stomach sleeping now she's rolling. She's got great head control and upper body strength. I'm just not sure she'll go for it - she haaaaates tummy time.

@Smurfette: We're trying that now. So far, she's pulled her paci our, hit herself repeatedly in the face with her fists and cried. Fingers crossed she gets the hang of it at some point tonight.

@Maysprout: Good idea, I'll give that a go. She's pretty terrible at putting it back in - she always ends up sucking on the plastic surround and getting angry.

We have a wubbanub and she does a good job of half-grabbing it and managing to get the paci in her mouth. it doesn't go flying as easily with the stuffed animal attached to it.

@Maysprout: @Blackbird: I gave her a wubbanub and she's holding it up above her head and alternating between sucking and crying. I guess she'll get there eventually.

@Elderberrygin: glad you went the wubbanub route, I have mommy anxiety brain and started thinking oh no, it doesn't take much length of string to get wrapped around baby. I hope she figures it out. The nights of change are so frustrating for everyone and there's so much change that happens early on.

We swaddle-weaned cold turkey. I think it took about 4 nights to be okay, the first 2 being the roughest. Hang in there!

@Maysprout: Yeah, I checked the tag on her paci holder and it said not to use it in the crib and it seemed like a bad idea to swap one risky sleep situation for another so I went for the wubbanub. Unfortunately she usually goes to sleep with a nuk, and the nipple shape is completely different from a soothie.

@shopaholic: Did you do anything in particular different? We're wondering whether to bit the bullet and sleep train as her sleep has been awful anyway, but we were both reaaalllly hoping not to do CIO.

@Elderberrygin: She was waking me up a few times at night because she wanted to suck her thumb. As soon as I'd unswaddle her, she'd find her thumb, suck, suck, and pass out again. She did keep waking herself up by hitting her head or a few nights, but then it was all good (until she started rolling). How old is your LO?
K never really took to the soothie/Wubbanub until she could grab it and put it in/take it out by herself. That was right around 3-3.5 months. We don't use it for night time sleep, but I've put it in her crib before and not really worried about it.

@Elderberrygin: can you swaddle with one arm out? That way if she flips on her belly she can use the arm to push herself up. We had to swaddle wean slowly. We used the halo sleep sacks with swaddle wings.

@shopaholic: she's six months old. I was basically planning on swaddling her til she left for college because its the only way she would sleep, but her rolling has forced the issue. Honestly, we needed to do something because she's been waking us every two hours for the past month to replace her paci.

@MamaMoose: I don't know what the safety guidelines are for one arm out? I'm totally a paranoid first time mom, so with the rolling I'm terrified she'll get stuck.

@LovelyPlum: she finally went to sleep two an a half hours after I put her down. We're watching Harry Potter and drinking wine to recover. Hopefully tomorrow night will be better.

@LovelyPlum: wine and HP was good and now I'm on to a quadruple espresso because I've been up since 2am. Soooo. Tired.
