Have any of you had success finding shorts that fit a skinny toddler girl? DD will be 3 at the beginning of summer, and I'm having a hard time finding any shorts that will work for her. None of the ones I'm seeing have adjustable waists, which she needs. Shorts with an elastic back will just fall down.

I'm not sure if they have them this summer, but I bought some with elastic and an adjustable waist at Old Navy last summer for my then-3 year old. I also liked that they didn't have snaps/zippers since she was potty trained but couldn't do those on her own. They had colored chinos and denim options.

Can you size waaaaay down, or are they too short? Pull out her 18 month shorts, if she has any; they might work. Gap Bermuda length skinny jean shorts in 18 months worked the summer DD1 was three.

My girl was still wearing 9-12 month shorts at almost three, they fit perfect!

My 3 year old is still wearing his 12-18 shorts. Size way way down. Also H&M has adjustable shorts, at least they do for boys, and last summer they had a lot of basic unisex colours.

We also size down - she wore 18M shorts last summer and I'll be surprised if they don't still fit at almost 3. Circo brand at Target had some longer/more modest shorts so I'm interested to see if Cat & Jack comes through for us this summer.

Definitely look into sizing down. My LO has always worn at least 1-2 sizes smaller than her pants size for shorts. Shorts are just funky!

for my boy I size way down, but girl shorts are too short for my long legged 5yo if I do that so I typically buy the size she needs for length and have my mom take them up. if you can find an elastic waist - even if it's currently too big - it's pretty easy to tighten them up (I'm sure there are youtube videos that explain it better than I could in words - you basically pull the elastic out and sew a chunk together to make the elastic shorter/tighter)

We size down. This past summer, both my kids (18m and 3.5 at the time) wore 18m shorts!

DS is super skinny and we had success with Burt's Bees elastic/tie-waist shorts from Kohls, and sizing down in the Old Navy elastic/tie-waist cotton shorts.

I also just take a tuck at the back of her leggings/bike shorts by stitching a little accordion pleat. Takes 2 mins!
