I’m having a really hard time finding shoes for my 4 year old. He’s a tall and strong kid that wears a size 11 XW shoe. Problem is that New Balance, Saucony, Stride Rite, all the brands that come in wide widths, are not fitting him well. Are there other brands/style I’m unaware of? Please help!

I was going to mention SKR also! They can be a bit pricey but they have a somewhat cheaper line at Target called See Kai Run Basics also.

Have you tried searching wide sizes on Zappos to find other brands? We needed XW because my son used orthotics and we always found Stride Rite to work well, so it's too bad they aren't fitting well.

@Alba4: Are you trying the actual XW New Balance, or just the Wide? I haven't tried them personally, but have noticed on Amazon that there is more than one "Wide" option in this brand.
PLAE works well for fitting over SMOs/Orthotics, so they might also work well for a wide foot.
If your son's foot is chunky, try anything with an open top (like a topsider/moccassin/loafer sort of style for a boy? I only have girls so IDK, I'm sorry!) My youngest DD has small but chubby feet, so I have to be careful about straps/tight tongues.

@PinkElephant: Yes, I only order XW for this kid. We tried another New Balance style in XW and found success! Phew!
