I need to buy some lightweight shorts for our move, but everything in stores now is for cold weather. Most of the kids' shorts are also jean shorts, which are too hot for the tropical weather. I'm looking for cotton and linen and lightweight. Any suggestions where to look?

eBay? Clearance stuff online. I think gap here still has some warm weather stuff in the sale section. Slim pickings though.
I've had trouble getting "resort" stuff in past years. I've ended up buying things at the destination, but I know that likely won't work for you.

My DD was a big fan of the "soft shorts" like these this summer, and they were good for our hot climate because they are not constricting.. These are also super cheap right now.

J Crew chino shorts are my absolute favorite. They are super light and comfortable. I usually buy them at J Crew Factory for $20. They have a lot of inseam lengths.

ok i have enough for me, mr. bee and olive, but boy shorts have been really hard to find in 5t! They are sold out most everywhere....

@Mrs. Bee: When I used to live where you live, we went on vacation in the winter and I put out a message on the bococa list serv to see if anyone wanted to sell me summer clothes for DS, and I got a ton of responses!

but i did end up getting some from osh kosh for charlie.
i would like to get a couple pair of mesh shorts for each kid but something plain without all the bright colors. they are so lightweight and great for the heat.
