Haha this is hilarious - DS1 is Samuel and DS2 is Caleb and one of my BFF's Theo wants to name his future son August.

All this is to say I love all your names! But August is my fave - no one is going to pay attention to your daughter's middle name and both Auggie and Gus are adorable nicknames.

we have friends with an Augustus - Gus for short. I prefer August over Augustus - - LOVE August. I don't think it would be weird to have 1 sibling with a month middle name and then another with a month first name. August/us has so many historical connections which are what I think of first, rather than it being the name of a month (August the month is named after/for a person, anyway!)

I love Theodore (though I'm partial to Theo over Ted) and August! Really, I love all 3, but Samuel doesn't work with my suggestion...

Given John as a middle name, have you considered using "TJ" or even "AJ"? I have a cousin, Theodore James, who is now 22 and has always gone by TJ, even when he was little.

I think August is great! I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

I like Samuel! I think Samuel John is a very nice strong name. And do you ever call your girl Vivi? Sam and Vivi are so cute together.

I'm voting for Samuel... I love the nickname Sam and you could use August for a middle and your son and daughter would both have months as middles

I like the sound of Augustus John! Although, my true advice would be to take the list to the hospital and wait until you see him. Maybe it'll come to you!

I have a Theodore and an Augustus (nn Teo and Gus), so clearly I love those names! If you both like the name Caleb, what about Callum or Callan?

How would you feel about still using Caleb? If you both still love it, would it be possible to ask your friends how they would feel? You know the situation best, but I would have been thrilled if someone had asked me to use my stillborn daughter's name for their child.

Theodore! That's DS's name. We were undecided on Teddy or Theo as a nickname but decided he looked more like a Theo after birth.

@catlady: Aw I like your taste! Theodore/Teddy and August/Gus were both on our short list of three! We went with the third choice which is Cooper. Any chance you like that?

@catlady: Now I have to ask how Callum is pronounced. I love that name but wonder if I'm saying it wrong?

@catlady: FWIW we call our Caleb "Cal" like Calvin even though his full name is pronounced the traditional way.

Totally biased because we have an August/ Auggie. So many people ask if he was born in that month even after finding out he isn't a year old. Face palm. Do the math people! LOL

I also like Theodore/ Teddy. Samuel isn't a bad name, but I much prefer the nn Sam or Sammy.
