Totally against TG. lol. I HATE gender neutral stuff and I wanted the prep time.

I loved being TG because we got lots of gift cards and cash as gifts. I was able to purchase exactly what I wanted for the baby (we had a registry, but I guess people thought cash was easier). And you can reuse everything for future babies! I really don't see any *real* benefit to finding out the gender. It's so much fun to be surprised!

Team Green! Hearing my husband say "It's a girl!" is one of the most beautiful moments of my life- even though I didn't believe him at first.
We also recieved a lot of gear and books at my showers, which was a lot better for us financially. Not finding out did drive people nuts, but so what? I will do it again for any future pregnancies, without a doubt.
@BKCaribBaby: I had a lot of ultrasounds too- but all of the techs were totally on board and thought it was awesome that we were waiting.

I was team green twice and my favorite things about it:
1) not having any preconceived expectations of the baby
2) my doctor's fun announcements - "indoor plumbing, it's a girl" with DD and "learn to duck, it's a boy" with DS
Hate to say it but people will buy clothing even if you are team green; you just get a lot of yellows and greens.

@shinymama: That's so cool!!! I can't believe you didn't open it. So great!

We wanted to find out but the baby wouldn't cooperate! We are surprised about how little we minded... And now we're not sure we'd find out for #2.

@Vegmama: I had willpower, DH did not. It helped that we had a deal that if one of us caved, the other would get to choose baby's first name. He did not love my choice, so he held strong.

We decided to find out but I REALLY want to be team green next time around. When baby comes you will know the gender forever...You can buy gender related outfits, accessories, everything. And you'll be doing that forever. If you want to be surprised in the delivery room just hang in there, 20 more weeks is actually not long. Pregnancy felt like forever when I was going through it, but looking back now it just flashed by, especially the second half.

Not only did my DH get to announce it to me, he got to announce it to my family. For me, it was the most incredible thing in the world to have him let me know we have a son and a daughter- it's really the only clear part I have of the delivery. My family loved when he walked out and told them- they knew the babies were here, but they didn't know the sex of either until he walked out to tell them an hour and a half later. He got to say, simply, "A boy and a girl". The shouts and screams of excitement scared the nurses:) Stay strong!

I wasn't Team Green. I'm glad we weren't because there might have been huge gender disappointment when LO was born. We both wanted a girl and have a boy. Knowing it was a boy helped with the mental prep for it.

I threw a team green babyshower before and it was very bland in my opinion. I didn't have as much fun as I wanted with the décor, the colors were green, yellow, and brown was an accent color. The mommy got lots of green, yellow, and safari animal items and lots of diapers. The diapers were useful but she ended up buying lots of girl stuff afterwards. I also like to shop so I would rather know ahead.

We were not team green, but we didn't share the name until she was born. So, while we didn't have the unknown sex excitement, the nurses were excited to find out her name.

@Jennimac: That's what we did! We told people the gender when I was about 30 weeks, and then didn't tell anyone his name until we announced his birth
I would like to be Team Green next time, but I really don't think I will get over the anticipation. I would be so happy, boy or girl, but I just hate waiting! I can't wait to hear what you decided, @anonysquire!

@cascademom: this was the same for me. I had mentally prepared myself for a girl and it took a little while to come around to having a boy. This time though, I really have no preference and am debating staying team green. I don't think DH will be able to hold out though so we will probably find out.

@bushelandapeck: When I'm pregnant with #2, I think that we'll find out like before. I'm someone who needs the mental prep side of it.

@MrsRcCar: I seriously don't know how I did it. But with no more ultrasounds I can't go back now!

Awww, boo- I was hoping you would join us on the blue (or pink) side! Way to stick with it though

@anonysquire: This was the hard part! Well, we really REALLY wanted to know around 35 weeks or so, but not enough to pay for an elective ultrasound, lol.

Heres a little pic. I don't know if this is good enough for those people who guess gender by the skull. The tech said he couldn't quite get a full profile so it's a little on top of the head as well?
pear / 1799 posts
@anonysquire: BOY! That's my guess. Based on the pronounced brow, and longer skull shape. WHAT A CUTE LITTLE NOSE!!! Hooray for you guys for staying team green.

@anonysquire: I'm going with boy! What did the gender chart say?
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Vegmama: @Bao: I'm starting to guess boy too.... especially with the HR 130. And I think the baby has my giant nose Not cute!!!!

@anonysquire: yay!!!
if we have a third, we're going to go Team Green.

@anonysquire: Chloes 3D photo was horrendous. She looks nothing like it. She doesn't really look like any of her US photos!
PS: I also guess boy.
pear / 1799 posts
@anonysquire: That is a teeny nose! barely sticks out as far as his/her little lips! I think we're having a girl, and her HR is above 140 (and has been) ... Oh girrrrllll, I think you're having a boy, ha.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Bao: Everyone is going to be surprised if its a she and it has the pronounced brow and long skull or whatever. Lol!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: LMAO. I asked the tech if the head was too big or if the eyes look normal spaced. I am sure he thought I was a vain idiot.
@Vegmama: Trust me I don't think that he got the full nose in the pic!
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@anonysquire: LOL at vain idiot. I want to be team green so bad! Its the one thing I made dh agree to before we started ttc as he would like the prep time. But, I can always exchange boring to me yellow for a hot pink stroller via amazon if the need arises! I want the suspense, the moment my dh says what it is. There are few surprises left as an adult! My mom was team green for both and it made her pregnancy more fun for her she said because she was very sick each time, and not knowing if she was having a son or daughter the first time (son), and then tbe second time was even more suspenseful she said.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@dc yoga bee: I think it will make everything more fun. And instead of the surprises all finishing at 16-20 weeks when you find out the gender you get to drag the surprise out til the end!
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Thanks
