Hi. I have a healthy, big 5-week old (12 pounds) who is wakes every ~45 minutes through the night crying. He seems like he really is in pain. The crying often is followed by a bowel movement or a lot of gas. I'm sleep derived and also concerned about him. Our pediatrician suggests it all is normal, but I am losing my mind a bit. He's not hungry when he wakes (sometimes I try feeding him, but he pretty consistently is only interested in eating every 3-4 hours at night). He is exclusively breastfed. So far I have gone off dairy (for 2 weeks), tried Gerber Soothe Probiotics (but it has only been 4 days of that, haven't noticed much difference), and I just purchased some Little Tummies gas drops.
Wondering if anyone else had this type of issue with their baby, and how they helped to solve. I'm not interested in CIO or anything, he is way too young. And like I said, he really seems to be in pain. When he wakes up crying I can soothe him with a pacifier (but that is unlikely to get him back to sleep, just keeps him quiet), or by picking him up and rocking him (soothes him and gets him back to sleep in ~15 minutes). This really is pretty hard crying, not just fussing.
Appreciate any advice from seasoned mamas.
