We found out earlier this week that we are having a baby girl. 
We need some help thinking of ideas for a first name. We have already settled on Opal as a middle name, after my grandmother.
My top and only pick right now is Eleanor, but I am not sold on it. I also like Margaret, but that name is already taken by a cousin. If it helps, our last name is similar to Simmons.

Emmeline - It’s my oldest’s middle name and I wish we had saved it. It’s kind of similar to Eleanor. Our younger ones middle name is Emmalise which sounds nice: Emmalise Opal Simmons. Both have nice nicknames/shortened versions (Em, Emmy).
Catherine - Our youngest is Margaret a d I feel like it’s kind of similar.

We have the exact same taste! My favorite, favorite girl names are Margaret and Eleanor!
What about Eleanor with different nicknames than usual. If DS was a girl we had Eleanor picked out with Nell as the nickname.

Love the previous suggestions of Dorothy, Georgia, Claudia, Emmaline, Cora, those were all on my big list
The flow of names that end in the "ee" or "uh" sound with that kind of last name seem really nice--so to me, Hazel Simmons doesn't sound as nice as Greta Simmons. All the names that have the "ss" sound in them feel kind of tongue-twister-y with a last name that starts and ends with S.

I really love the name Iris but another friend used it for her baby. I think Iris Opal has a cool ring to it too
